Microsoft Releases PowerToys 0.96.1: Key Bug Fixes and Enhancements

In a recent update, Microsoft has rolled out PowerToys version 0.96.1, addressing several bugs and enhancing functionality for Windows 10 users. This release primarily focuses on fixing a missing module, correcting issues with the Advanced Paste feature, and resolving bugs within the Awake module.

Restoration of Image Resizer for Windows 10

One of the most significant improvements in the latest version is the restoration of the Image Resizer tool, which had become dysfunctional on Windows 10. Prior to this update, invoking the Image Resizer would yield no response, inconveniencing users who were forced to seek alternative resizing methods. With version 0.96.1, users can once again access the tool’s size options seamlessly.

Awake Module Bug Resolution

Another crucial fix involves the Awake module, designed to keep your computer awake to prevent it from entering sleep mode. In version 0.96, there was a notable bug affecting the Timed Mode functionality, where the computer wouldn’t revert to its intended sleep state after the timer expired. Enhancements to Advanced Paste

Furthermore, PowerToys 0.96.1 has made several enhancements to the Advanced Paste feature, which supports various local and online models:

  • Deprecated OpenAI Prompt Execution Settings properties have been removed, allowing integration with newer models such as GPT-5.1 available in Azure OpenAI.

  • The parameters for the Foundry Local model have been updated to facilitate longer output tokens.

  • A fix has been implemented to resolve an issue where newly downloaded models from Foundry Local appeared unavailable immediately afterward.
