The upcoming BIOS updates will be rolled out by ASUS across different chipsets, which include not only the high-performance workstation W880 but also the Q870 embedded chipset, along with consumer-friendly options like the Z890, B860, and H810 models. Despite anticipation around these processors, Intel has remained relatively quiet about the Arrow Lake Refresh lineup, with information mainly surfacing through leaks. The desktop version is expected to feature three new WeUs: the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, and Core Ultra 9 290K Plus.
Rumors suggest that these new processors will introduce improvements, boasting either increased core counts or elevated boost clock speeds compared to their predecessors in the existing Arrow Lake family. An official release from Intel is speculated to occur in March or April, prompting motherboard manufacturers like ASUS to preemptively release BIOS updates to ensure hassle-free upgrades.
Additionally, ASUS isn’t alone in its preparations. GIGABYTE has also made strides by unveiling its Arrow Lake Refresh-compatible motherboard—the Z890 AORUS ELITE WiFi7 PLUS—at CES. Like ASUS, GIGABYTE will extend BIOS updates to its existing motherboards in order to accommodate the new CPU architecture. As the tech community eagerly awaits Intel’s official announcement regarding the launch date of the Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs, it is anticipated that these details will emerge before the end of Q1.
