Yeji Kim, the leader of the popular K-pop girl group ITZY, is ready to take a significant step in her music career with her upcoming solo debut. At the stroke of midnight on Sunday, she unveiled a teaser trailer along with her promotional schedule, igniting excitement among fans.
The 24-year-old artist proudly announced her first solo album, titled AIR, through ITZY’s official social media platforms. The album is anticipated to drop on March 10 at 6 PM KST, making Yeji the inaugural member of the group to release a solo project.
Alongside the teaser, Yeji has shared a detailed promotion schedule leading up to the album launch. Highlights include the tracklist reveal on Valentine’s Day, concept photos from February 24 to 28, an album spoiler on March 3, music video teaser photos on March 5 and 7, and finally, the album cover disclosure on March 10. Additionally, enthusiasts can look forward to a live countdown event one hour prior to the official album release.
Yeji’s Journey in Music
Yeji’s path to stardom began when she became a trainee at JYP Entertainment in 2015. She gained public attention through her notable appearance on SBS’ “The Fan”in 2018, where she was heralded as “JYP’s secret weapon” by 2PM’s Junho. After approximately two years and eight months of rigorous training, she made her debut as the leader, main dancer, and lead vocalist of ITZY on February 12, 2019.
The group’s debut single, “Dalla Dalla, ”achieved remarkable success, reaching as high as number two on multiple music charts and setting a record for the most views in 24 hours for a K-pop group’s debut music video. Since then, ITZY has released a string of successful EPs and singles, with numerous tracks ascending to the top of both South Korean and international charts, solidifying their status in the music industry.
While Yeji has primarily concentrated on group activities, she has not shied away from pursuing solo opportunities. Notably, in December 2024, she released her first original soundtrack titled “Think About You, ”which was featured in the TV drama “Love Your Enemy.”
