NewJeans’ Record Label Strategically Crafting a Full-Length Album Comeback Amidst Legal Turmoil

ADOR has announced plans for a full-album comeback of NewJeans, who have faced over a year of legal struggles. However, there is still ambiguity regarding the participation of all five members in this anticipated return.

Recent reports indicate that Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark, for pre-production of their new music. Leaked scheduling documents reveal that the group utilized a recording studio in Copenhagen from April 13 to 16, a crucial period to kickstart their new musical chapter.

While ADOR confirmed the Copenhagen trip as part of their “new musical journey, ”they have yet to announce a specific comeback date, as highlighted by Complex.

NewJeans: Navigating Their Comeback Amid Legal Complications

One significant detail from the Copenhagen sessions is the absence of member Minji, which raises questions about the future makeup of the group. ADOR clarified that members are “preparing for new activities in line with their individual conditions and schedule, ”leaving fans wondering if the comeback will feature all five original members.

The tumultuous relationship between NewJeans and ADOR has been marked by a legal battle that began in November 2024 when the group sought to exit the label, citing allegations of mistreatment and the exit of former CEO Min Hee-jin. The Seoul Central District Court deemed in October 2025 that the group’s contracts are valid until 2029, imposing substantial penalties of 1 billion won (approximately $700, 000) per member for unauthorized entertainment activities, according to a report by the BBC.

After their legal setback, all five members reportedly agreed to continue with ADOR in November 2025, following unsuccessful attempts to rebrand themselves as NJZ. Prior to this, the group had entered an indefinite hiatus earlier in 2025 due to a court injunction preventing their independent activities.

Industry analysts predict that NewJeans could release new music in the latter half of 2026, with projected album sales estimated at around 900, 000 units. This comeback is expected to generate significant returns, with estimates by Meritz Securities suggesting an operating profit of 60-70 billion won for ADOR.

Despite ongoing speculation, ADOR has only committed to “officially share their future direction when the time is right, ”with no firm details released regarding the full member lineup or album release schedule, as reported by Korea Times.
