WWE: Shawn Michaels fears losing 28-year-old star to Hollywood

WWE legend Shawn Michaels recently revealed his concern about a 28-year-old NXT star potentially being taken by Hollywood due to their exceptional portrayal of their on-screen character.

The individual in question is Tony D’Angelo, the leader of the faction known as The Family, and his persona embodies that of a formidable mafia boss, referred to as The Don of NXT. This 28-year-old talent is scheduled to face off against Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship at the Stand & Deliver event, taking place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on April 6, 2024.

The Heartbreak Kid did not hesitate to acknowledge The Family member by giving them credit. On the Busted Open Radio podcast, Shawn Michaels expressed admiration for Tony D’Angelo, the former NXT Tag Team Champion, and his dedication to his “Don”persona.

At 58 years old, the WWE legend even made a lighthearted comment about Angelo potentially being recruited by Hollywood to portray a mob boss on the big screen. Michaels stated:

“Tony [D’Angelo] is somebody that, from the beginning, he jumped in 110% into that character and has done a fantastic job. I’ve got to be honest, things that worry me about Tony D’Angelo is somebody from Hollywood giving him a call and losing him to play the next mob boss because he does such a fantastic job,”said Michaels. WWE Superstar Continues to Lobby for WrestleMania Showdown with Legendary Shawn Michaels

In anticipation of WrestleMania 40, former Universal Champion Kevin Owens expressed his desire to have a high-profile match against Shawn Michaels. The Prizefighter has already had several memorable WrestleMania moments, having faced off against iconic WWE superstars such as “Stone Cold”Steve Austin, Chris Jericho, and Shane McMahon in the past.

At a recent appearance on Fanatics Live stream, KO expressed his desire for the Heartbreak Kid to come out of retirement and challenge him at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

“I keep bothering Shawn Michaels every year to come back. He just won’t. He’s so nice about it every year. This year, I texted him, he didn’t answer me for two months, and then when he answered me, it was to say, ‘Well, I know I’m a little late, but I just had shoulder surgery, so I don’t think it’s happening.’ You could’ve said no two months ago, you didn’t have to get cut for it,”said Owens, joking about WWE Hall of Famer’s surgery.

Currently, the 39-year-old WWE star is scheduled to compete in a triple-threat match for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 40 against Logan Paul and Randy Orton. It remains to be seen if Shawn Michaels will make a comeback to the ring and face off against Kevin Owens in one final match.
