Which NXT tag team is The Rock training with to get ring-ready for WrestleMania 40? They are former champions!

The Rock has always been recognized for his impressive physical appearance, both inside and outside the wrestling ring. However, in preparation for his highly anticipated return to the ring at The Show of Shows this weekend, The Great One has spared no effort in refining his physique. This time, The Final Boss sought the assistance of Gallus, an NXT tag team consisting of Wolfgang, Joe Coffey, and Mark Coffey.

After almost ten years away, The Rock will make his return to in-ring competition at WrestleMania 40. His previous match was in 2016 against Erick Rowan, a short and unplanned bout that lasted only six seconds. His last complete match was in 2013 against John Cena. Despite not being a regular performer, he has maintained an impressive physique, but even The Brahma Bull needed assistance to overcome any rust from being out of the ring.

During a recent interview with ESPN, Brian Gewirtz, a former WWE writer, revealed details about the in-ring preparations of The Great One leading up to his tag team match at WrestleMania 40.

Gewirtz disclosed that The Rock established a training facility in Los Angeles, where he worked out with Wolfgang, Mark, and Joe Coffey.

The trio’s WWE journey began in 2018 when they joined the NXT UK brand, and they wasted no time in displaying their dominance and engaging in various rivalries. In 2019, Mark and Wolfgang claimed the Tag Team Championship and retained it for a remarkable 497 days. Following a short break, Mark went on to win the Heritage Cup in June 2022.

Following the dissolution of the UK brand, the team made their debut on NXT 2.0 where they engaged in rivalries with competitors such as Diamond Mine, Josh Briggs, and Brooks Jensen. They eventually challenged for the tag team championship once again and emerged victorious after defeating The New Day, Pretty Deadly, and Chase University. However, after a reign of 176 days, they were dethroned by Tony D’Angelo and Channing Lorenzo.

Who helped train and prepare The Rock for his in-ring return?

Despite being a consummate professional, Dwayne Johnson’s transition to in-ring duties was carefully managed by the Stamford-based promotion to prioritize safety.

During the interview, it was disclosed that Michael P.S. Hayes oversaw Dwayne’s training sessions with Gallus. Bobby Roode, a former superstar who now works as a producer, also supervised the sessions. WWE referee Chad Patton officiated the rehearsals, while a medical team monitored them.

I am curious to know what surprises The Rock has planned for WrestleMania 40.
