What does Cody Rhodes think of The Rock coming back to WWE? Exploring his honest answer

This weekend, Cody Rhodes will be taking on two of WWE’s top wrestlers, The Rock and Roman Reigns. While the return of The Brahma Bull to the company and the ring after an extended absence has generated excitement among many fans, not everyone had a positive initial response. Interestingly, The American Nightmare also had differing opinions initially.

WWE kicked off 2024 with a bang as The Rock made a highly anticipated return on the first RAW of the year. Waste no time, he wasted no time in calling out Roman Reigns and challenging him for a match at WrestleMania 40. This caused tension between the two cousins and even led to The Rock pushing aside Cody Rhodes. The backlash from fans prompted the company to make adjustments, including turning The Brahma Bull into a villain, having The Tribal Chief face his WrestleMania 39 rival, and featuring a tag team match as the main event.

Cody’s candid opinion on The Rock’s comeback

During a recent appearance on First Take, Cody Rhodes shared his thoughts on The Rock’s return. The American Nightmare expressed that it was not what most people expected. He recognized that while Dwayne Johnson is a figure on the “Mount Rushmore Level,”he personally was not a fan of his sudden return and immediate jump to the main event against his cousin.

Cody acknowledged the disappointment of fans and appreciated being chosen to face Roman instead. He also mentioned the introduction of The Final Boss, whom he likened to Hollywood Hulk Hogan. While Rhodes didn’t initially plan to compliment his opponent, he couldn’t deny the Hollywood star’s ability to quickly adapt to the changes and make them into something exceptional.

Although there has been much anticipation for a dream match between Reigns and Rock, it made more sense to have Cody face off against Roman instead. As it turns out, this was a decision that even The Final Boss supported.

Brian Gerwitz, business partner of The Rock and former WWE writer, shared that Dwayne and fans were in agreement that Cody should go up against Roman. This decision was influenced by Rhodes’ victory at the Royal Rumble this year and his previous loss to Reigns. Johnson believed that the story should be kept authentic, as there was no apparent reason for Cody to refuse to face Roman.

Update on The Rock and Cody Rhodes’ WWE discussion

On the last WWE RAW before WrestleMania XL, Dwayne and Cody Rhodes came face to face. The Bloodline proceeded to deliver a savage attack on Cody and Seth Rollins during the episode.

It would be intriguing to witness the outcome of WrestleMania XL and determine who will emerge as the ultimate victor.
