SM Entertainment Files Legal Action Amid Dating Rumors of aespa’s Winter and BTS’ Jungkook

SM Entertainment Takes Legal Action Over Malicious Rumors Targeting aespa’s Winter

On Wednesday, SM Entertainment announced its intention to take legal measures against those responsible for harmful posts and comments directed at Winter, a member of the K-Pop group aespa, amid rumors about a potential romantic relationship with BTS star Jungkook.

Details of the Legal Response

The agency released an official statement outlining its legal strategy in response to the ongoing gossip. It highlighted a range of malicious activities, including defamatory posts and sexually harassing content, that have proliferated on various online platforms such as DC Inside, Women’s Era, Nate Pann, Instiz, Theqoo, Instagram, X, and YouTube. SM Entertainment confirmed its plans to pursue both civil and criminal charges against individuals fabricating and disseminating damaging narratives about Winter across these channels.

In its statement, SM Entertainment emphasized,

“Please be advised that we will respond strictly without leniency, and we urge everyone to avoid becoming involved in such misconduct.”

Context of the Rumors

The legal actions coincide with a wave of speculation that erupted earlier this week when rumors linking Winter and Jungkook began circulating on Korean social media. Internet users have further intensified these rumors by noting perceived similarities between the artists, including matching tattoos depicting three dog heads and coordinated fashion choices showcased on separate occasions.

Adding to the speculation, fans have pointed out coinciding musical preferences in the content shared by both idols. Interestingly, Jungkook’s previous Instagram handle, @mnijungkook, was also suggested to have ties to Winter’s real name, Kim Min-jung, although Jungkook clarified that his handle is based on his own name.

Lack of Official Statements from Agencies

As the rumors continue to circulate, neither SM Entertainment nor HYBE, the parent company of Jungkook’s label Big Hit Music, has released any public statements. Both Winter and Jungkook have chosen not to confirm or refute the dating allegations directly.

History of Dating Rumors

Both Winter and Jungkook have faced dating rumors in the past. Jungkook has been linked to several individuals, including a former classmate, tattoo artist Lee Mijoo, actress Lee Yu Bi, and even BLACKPINK’s Lisa. Meanwhile, Winter previously addressed rumors concerning her alleged relationship with ENHYPEN’s Jungwon, which she successfully put to rest.
