Protect Your PC with Sandbox Programs to Safeguard Against Malware
Sandboxie enables you to operate your browser or any other program in a sandboxed environment, preserving any modifications made during usage, which can subsequently be removed.
Sandboxie is a software that utilizes a sandbox-based isolation system for 32- and 64-bit Windows NT-based operating systems. It has been under development by David Xanatos since becoming open source, prior to which it was developed by Sophos after acquiring it from Invincea. In turn, Invincea had acquired it from its original author, Ronen Tzur. This isolated virtual environment enables safe experimentation with untrusted programs and internet browsing.
Two versions of Sandboxie, Plus and Classic, are offered. Both versions have the same essential components, ensuring equal levels of security and compatibility. The Plus version boasts a contemporary UI based on Qt, allowing for utilization of all recently added features since the project became open source. In contrast, the Classic version has an outdated UI based on MFC that is no longer being developed, resulting in a lack of support for modern features. However, these features can still be utilized by manually configuring the Sandboxie.ini.
