Roman Reigns seemingly went off-script in recent WWE promo: “It wasn’t no storyline”

According to The Great One, The Rock was taken by surprise during a recent unscripted promo by Roman Reigns.

The Rock shared a mini-documentary on his Twitter and Instagram profiles, reflecting on the ongoing rivalry between The Bloodline and the team of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. He also mentioned being instructed by The Tribal Chief to acknowledge him.

During a recent installment of WWE SmackDown, Roman Reigns unexpectedly interrupted The Rock just as he was about to deliver his famous catchphrase. He proceeded to demand that The Great One acknowledge him. After a tense standoff, The Rock finally acknowledged The Tribal Chief. In the second part of his mini-documentary, he discussed the memorable encounter and hinted that Reigns deviated from the planned script, catching him off guard with his request.

“Something happened out there that The Rock didn’t expect. They thought it was a part of the storyline, well, you know that’s not how The Rock operates. It wasn’t no storyline. The Rock saw something in Joe Anoa’i’s eyes that The Rock had never seen before, and in that moment, as Joe, who is my family, my cousin, my Uso, which means brother in Samoan, Aiga, if he needs me to acknowledge him, I’m gonna acknowledge him.” [H/T – RSN]

Reigns is ready to take on a double challenge at The Show of Shows. He is set to join forces with The Rock in a tag team match against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on Night One of ‘Mania. The Rock’s return to the ring after a hiatus since 2016 has fans eagerly anticipating his comeback.

Additionally, on Night Two, Roman Reigns will go head-to-head with Cody Rhodes in a singles match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title. This presents Rhodes with another opportunity to complete the narrative, and it is yet to be determined if he will be the one to finally overthrow Reigns at the highly-anticipated event.
