Paul Heyman received a text from ‘furious’ star after WWE canceled promised match

A prominent figure has shared an intriguing anecdote about sending a text message to Paul Heyman after WWE scrapped a highly anticipated match that had been previously promised.

Although Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch were fierce rivals in the past, they never had the opportunity to face each other in a singles match on WWE TV. Currently, Rousey is promoting her new book, Our Fight: A Memoir, where she shares her frustration with not being able to have the ‘promised’ match with Lynch.

According to Ronda’s book, WWE had initially promised her a match with The Man, but later decided to cancel it. This decision left her extremely angry and she immediately reached out to Paul Heyman, insisting that she be booked to lose to Charlotte Flair on WWE SmackDown. She also spoke to Triple H and eventually ended up teaming with her close friend Shayna Baszler on WWE TV.

Ronda Rousey’s potential partnership with Paul Heyman

Despite high expectations from fans, Ronda Rousey did not end up aligning with Paul Heyman on WWE TV after her signing in 2018. In a recent interview with Rick Rubin on the Tetragrammaton podcast, Heyman revealed that his WWE agreement contained a limited list of potential superstars he could manage, which ultimately restricted his options.

According to Heyman, here’s what was said:

“They don’t measure up to where you’re used to seeing my character bring someone down to the ring, which is either the main event of WrestleMania or close to it. One of the few names on this list was Roman Reigns. Another was Brock Lesnar, obviously. Another was Ronda Rousey. Ronda Rousey was having a baby. Brock Lesnar wasn’t coming back with Saudi being down. That kinda left Roman Reigns in there.”

Despite her previous loss to Shayna Baszler in an MMA Rules match at SummerSlam 2023, Rousey left WWE immediately after. Recently, she has been publicly criticizing the promotion and it appears unlikely that she will ever return.
