Nvidia Plans Multiple Arm-Based Chips for 2026 and 2027, First Generation Set to Launch with Windows 11 26H1

Nvidia remains committed to its ambitious goal of launching a Windows on Arm (WoA) chip within this year, according to supply chain sources. The anticipated N1X-based laptops are projected to hit the market as early as the first quarter of 2026. These devices are expected to come pre-installed with Windows 11 26H1, aligning with insights from Windows Latest regarding the new operating system’s optimization for novel silicon architectures.

As reported by Digitimes, Nvidia is strategically shifting its focus beyond GPUs to venture deeper into the PC market, particularly targeting the WoA segment. The same roadmap indicates the development of advanced chips, including the N2 and N2X, expected to release by 2027.

Although Nvidia has not officially confirmed these timelines, the company typically refrains from commenting on speculation emerging from supply chain discussions.

Understanding Nvidia’s N1 and N1X AI Chipsets

The N1 is anticipated to cater to desktop systems, while the N1X variant is tailored for notebooks. Nvidia is set to unveil N1X-based laptops powered by Windows 11 26H1 by the end of March 2026. The initial rollout will focus on consumer models, with additional configurations likely debuting in the second quarter of 2026.

In recent announcements, Microsoft confirmed that Windows 11 26H1 is specifically designed for new silicon, although it has not specified if this solely pertains to Snapdragon X2 devices. The delays regarding the N1X chips stem from fluctuating notebook demand and challenges with memory supplies and pricing, both critical for unified memory configurations.
