Microsoft Introduces Windows 11 Preview Build 27813 in the Canary Channel

This latest iteration primarily focuses on general enhancements, offering improvements in audio functionality and color management, although it does not introduce any significant new features.

Changelog Highlights

Changes and Improvements

[General]

  • A limited assortment of general improvements has been implemented, aimed at enhancing the overall user experience for Insiders utilizing this build.

[Other]

  • Notably, the Location History feature has been removed. This API was previously utilized by Cortana for accessing a 24-hour history of device location when enabled. With its removal, location data will no longer be stored locally, and affected settings will be eliminated from Settings > Privacy & security > Location.

Fixes

[Audio]

  • An issue with the WDMAud system driver has been resolved, which was leading to app crashes following recent MIDI work.

[Settings]

  • A glitch that prevented the expected color profile from being displayed under Settings > System > Display > Color Management has also been fixed.

Known Issues to Note

[General]

  • [IMPORTANT NOTE FOR COPILOT+ USERS] New users transitioning to the Canary Channel from the Dev Channel, Release Preview Channel, or retail on a Copilot+ PC may encounter issues with Windows Hello PIN and biometric logins. This could result in error 0xd0000225 and a message stating, “Something went wrong, and your PIN isn’t available.” Users can recreate their PIN by selecting “Set up my PIN.”
  • Work is underway to address a d3d9.dll crash that is causing several applications to fail to launch, a problem that began with Build 27802 for some users.
