LeBron James inadvertently snaps Metro Boomin’s ‘pick your sides’ sentiment, promotes Drake after ‘Like That’ jam

It is noteworthy that LeBron James, the star of the LA Lakers, has developed close relationships with well-known figures like rapper Drake. In fact, the marketing campaign for “The Shop”men’s grooming line incorporated Drake’s famous “Big as the what?”phrase during the rapper’s feud with 17-time Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar.

In Times Square, New York, passersby were able to see virtual billboards featuring “The Shop”men’s grooming line. The prominent advertisements provided the perfect chance to incorporate one of Drake’s lyrics as the caption, as the ongoing controversy surrounding his feud with Kendrick Lamar continued to be a popular topic of conversation.

The viral dispute began on March 22, 2024, when Metro Boomin and Future dropped their collaborative album, “We Don’t Trust You.”The song “Like That,”which was featured on the album and included a commanding verse from Kendrick Lamar, garnered widespread attention for its shots at Drake.

The highly praised rapper used his lyrics to call attention to Drake’s recent albums, which have been deemed subpar by critics. The verse also acknowledges his and fellow rapper J.Cole’s claim to being two of the most successful artists in the industry.

Additionally, Metro Boomin, the producer, tweeted “Pick a side and stick to it,”in reference to the feud. While the LA Lakers player has not directly addressed the beef, he appears to support the inclusion of Drake’s lyrics in the promotion of his skin care products on “The Shop.”

Furthermore, according to ESPN’s Omar Raja, James was captured on video rapping along to Kendrick Lamar’s verse from Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That”before the LA Lakers vs Brooklyn Nets game on Sunday night.

How did Metro Boomin respond to LeBron James rapping Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Like That?”

Despite the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, LeBron James remains close friends with both artists. Before the start of Sunday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, the four-time NBA champion couldn’t resist getting caught up in the energy of Lamar’s diss verse.

The 20-time NBA All-Star’s performance was a foreshadowing of what was to come, as he scored 40 points (13/7 shooting, with 9/10 from 3-point range), grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out five assists, propelling the Lakers to a 116-104 victory.

Additionally, Metro Boomin, the producer, expressed his admiration for LeBron James’ rap to the song and noted that it was followed by one of his top performances of the season. He took to X to share his reaction.

“Bro was warming up to ‘Like That’ then went 9/10 from 3 and 13/17 for 40 points,”Boomin posted.

LeBron James has been known to showcase his rapping abilities on multiple occasions, including sharing his favorite songs and verses on his Instagram stories. This recent instance is not the first time he has displayed his skills in this area.
