Ju Hak Nyeon Speaks Out Amidst Controversial Dismissal from “The Boyz”
Ju Hak Nyeon, known for his role in the K-pop group “The Boyz, ”has recently addressed the scandal that led to his removal from the group, which stirred significant discussion within the industry.
Allegations and Contract Termination
In a heartfelt statement, the 26-year-old artist claimed that his former agency, One Hundred Entertainment, did not defend him against serious allegations, ultimately leading to the termination of his contract in June 2025.
The uproar began when the Japanese tabloid Shukan Bunshun published images of Ju meeting with former adult film star Asuka Kirara in Tokyo’s vibrant Roppongi district in late May. Following the release, sources indicated to various media that he had allegedly engaged in paid sexual activities, an accusation that sent shockwaves throughout the K-pop community.
Efforts to Manage the Fallout
Interestingly, Ju had previously shared the photographs with his agency in hopes of controlling the narrative before it became public. However, following his proactive disclosure, the situation escalated beyond his control, as he later revealed to Billboard.
Unjust Demands and Legal Battles
During an internal investigation, when confronted with evidence, Ju admitted to meeting Asuka but firmly rejected the allegations of prostitution. He was also presented with a termination agreement that demanded exorbitant compensation exceeding 2 billion Korean won (about $1.4 million), far beyond what his contract stipulated.
Refusing to sign under such terms, he expressed concern for his financial future, stating, “Realistically, if I paid this, it would be the end of my life. I would go bankrupt, ” as he disclosed to the press.
Agency Actions and Escalating Demands
Just days later, on June 18, One Hundred Entertainment announced Ju’s dismissal from The Boyz, attributing the decision to the damage to the group’s reputation. This was followed by a notable increase in their demands, raising the lawsuit’s total to nearly 8 billion won (around $5.5 million) without any clear justification.
Claims of Agency Wrongdoing
Ju alleged that the agency may have intentionally leaked the photographs he submitted to them to Shukan Bunshun, hoping to validate his removal from the group.
Legal Outcomes and Future Steps
In July 2025, the police cleared Ju Hak Nyeon of the prostitution allegations due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Following this development, Ju has filed a lawsuit against One Hundred Entertainment, seeking justice for his unceremonious dismissal. Additionally, he is pursuing legal action against various media outlets for disseminating false narratives about him, as reported by Hauterrfly.
