Jennie from BLACKPINK Acquires Prime Real Estate in Seoul
In a significant investment move, Jennie, a member of the globally popular girl group BLACKPINK, has purchased a building in Dongbinggo-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, for a staggering 20 billion won (approximately $13.8 million). This acquisition was reportedly completed entirely in cash.
Details of the Purchase
The transaction occurred in May 2025, with the ownership officially transferred by December of the same year. According to data from South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the property bears no mortgage, indicating that Jennie paid the full amount upfront without the aid of loans.
Property Specifications
The newly acquired building is situated in a densely populated area known for housing foreign embassies, including those of Hungary and Libya. Notably, the property previously served as the Embassy of Iraq before relocating to Hannam-dong. Its construction dates back to 1970 and comprises two above-ground floors and a basement. Covering a land area of 595 square meters, the total floor area reaches 551 square meters.
Out of the total purchase price of 20 billion won, approximately 19.8 billion won (around $13.6 million) is attributed to the land value, while the building itself accounts for about 100 million won (around $70, 000).
Future Development Prospects
The Dongbinggo-dong area is currently experiencing significant redevelopment efforts. Located near the ambitious Hannam New Town project—Seoul’s largest redevelopment initiative spanning over 1.1 million square meters and expected to accommodate approximately 12, 000 new households—the area is poised for growth. Furthermore, the Yongsan Park development is anticipated to enhance property values, making Yongsan a highly sought-after investment destination that could rival the esteemed Gangnam district.
Jennie’s Real Estate Portfolio
This latest purchase adds to Jennie’s impressive real estate portfolio. In July 2023, she acquired a luxury villa unit at La Terrasse Hannam for 5 billion won ($3.4 million), also paid in cash. This property boasts five rooms and three bathrooms across a spacious 286 square meters. Additionally, she has leased an entire building in Hannam-dong for her solo agency, Odd Atelier, with monthly rental costs exceeding 60 million won (about $41.3 million).
Musical Endeavors
At the age of 30, Jennie continues to thrive as a solo artist while maintaining her role in BLACKPINK. Her 2025 album, titled “Ruby, ”along with the hit single “Like Jennie, ”have captured significant attention, with the latter achieving the distinction of being the most-streamed K-pop song on Spotify in the first half of 2025. Fans are eagerly awaiting BLACKPINK’s upcoming release, the third mini album “Deadline, ”scheduled for February 27, 2026—marking their first new music release in over three years.
