Intel has officially acknowledged persistent issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality in Windows 11, particularly when the two technologies vie for the same wireless channel. Users may encounter situations where their Bluetooth devices inexplicably vanish from the Quick Settings menu, disrupting their audio experience. Fortunately, the April 2026 update aims to alleviate these connectivity problems.
Many users, including myself, have experienced challenges with Bluetooth on Intel hardware. Despite significant improvements with recent Intel wireless adapters, the performance still falls short of expectations. A common issue is the lag associated with Bluetooth audio playback when simultaneously using a Wi-Fi connection, particularly on the 2.4 GHz band.
To address these conflicts, Intel has released new wireless drivers for Windows 11. Version 24.40.0 is now available for Wi-Fi drivers, while Bluetooth has been updated to version 24.40.0.3.
According to the release notes, the update includes fixes that enhance the coexistence of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections. Users can expect a reduction in audio stuttering from Bluetooth earbuds and headphones during Wi-Fi activity, as well as consistent Wi-Fi performance while devices such as mice, keyboards, and headsets are connected.
Furthermore, Intel has confirmed that the April 2026 wireless driver updates will contribute to improved system stability for both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions.
Among other changes, Intel has set the Advanced Channel-Load for Access Point selection to ‘Disable’ and included several general bug fixes in this update.
How to Download the April 2026 Intel Wireless Driver for Windows 11
Windows Update will automatically distribute these drivers without the need for manual downloads from OEMs. However, it’s worth noting that many manufacturers are often slow to release the most recent drivers, particularly for devices in their premium lineup, such as the XPS 13 and Surface Pro.
Users can also utilize Intel’s Driver and Support Assistant tool to ensure their drivers are up to date.
Microsoft’s Commitment to Improved Stability in Windows 11
The issues surrounding Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are not solely attributable to OEM faults; Windows 11 has its own reliability challenges impacting wireless connections for peripherals, including keyboards and mice. Recently, Microsoft admitted to being aware of unreliable OS driver updates leading to system crashes.
The tech giant has pledged to enhance driver quality, lower the incidence of OS-level crashes, and collaborate with OEM partners to tackle stability concerns.
In a recent blog post, Microsoft stated: “We aim to create easier, faster, and stable connections with Bluetooth accessories, minimize USB-related crashes and connection losses, and enhance printer discoverability and connectivity.”
Additionally, plans are underway to improve the reliability of camera and audio connections and to provide consistent device wake functionalities.
