“I lied”: Draymond Green admits incorrect DPOY favorite, reveals his new pick for honors
After reevaluating, Draymond Green has changed his stance on Victor Wembanyama’s chances of winning Defensive Player of the Year. Green has acknowledged his previous misjudgment and now sees the San Antonio Spurs’ 7-foot-4 newcomer as a strong contender for the award.
Earlier this month, Green discussed Victor Wembanyama’s chances of winning Defensive Player of the Year on his podcast.
The Warriors’ outspoken star confidently expressed his opinion, pointing out the Spurs’ weak defensive record despite the impressive numbers put up by the rookie.
“I don’t think you can give that award to somebody who’s on 24th best defense in the league,”he said.
Nevertheless, it appears that the situation has shifted, with Draymond Green now voicing a different sentiment than what he expressed earlier.
Despite the Spurs’ 117-113 loss, Wembanyama’s performance against the Warriors on Sunday was impressive, with four steals and three blocks.
On his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show,”which aired on Wednesday, the four-time NBA champion stated:
“I know I said on here a little while back that Wemby should not be the Defensive Player of the Year, and I lied,” Green said.
“Wemby should be the Defensive Player of the Year because he is that amazing – defensively. The way he impacts the game on the defensive end, whether it’s off the ball, on the ball, it’s a problem,”Green added. “I don’t know what lab he was created in, but I need to go create me a son in that lab.”
The remarks are undoubtedly complimentary and will be highly appreciated at Spurs HQ.
Draymond Green intensifies efforts to crush Rockets’ playoff dreams
Draymond Green, forward for the Warriors, has made a promise to crush the Houston Rockets’ hopes for the playoffs when the two teams meet at the Chase Center on Thursday.
Despite the Rockets being on a losing streak, Green views tomorrow’s game as an opportunity to crush their hopes of making it to the playoffs, as he boldly stated on his podcast.
“The Rockets coming out to play. They have lost a couple in a row and they are four games behind with seven games left. If my math serves me correctly, tomorrow will be an opportunity to end their season and their playoff hopes,” Green said.
Despite his impressive performance against the Spurs, where he recorded 21 points, 11 assists, six steals, and six rebounds, Green has continued to exude confidence in the lead-up to the game. It is no surprise, given his recent success, that he is unfazed about playing on his home turf. However, he understands that for his team to be successful, they must secure a victory on Thursday.
