Is Luka Doncic playing tonight against Atlanta Hawks? Latest on Mavericks superstar’s status (April 4)

Luka Doncic, the standout guard for the Dallas Mavericks, has been confirmed as eligible to play in the upcoming game against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday. This will be the second and final meeting between the two teams this season.

Despite experiencing a loss on the road against Golden State on Tuesday night, Dallas had been performing remarkably well, winning seven consecutive games and 11 of their last 12 before the defeat. Currently holding a record of 45-30 for the season, the Mavericks will face off against the Pelicans on Thursday night, sharing the top spot in the Southwest Division.

Despite shooting 43.8% from the field and making 15 out of 40 attempts from beyond the arc, Dallas fell short in the rebounding department with a deficit of 52-42 in the matchup. However, Luka Doncic displayed his versatility by leading the Mavericks with an impressive stat line of 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, despite their loss.

The Current State of Luka Doncic’s Career

Despite experiencing left Achilles soreness in the last four games, Luka Doncic has been approved to participate in each of those matches at game time.

The strenuous responsibility of leading the offense appears to have taken a toll on the Mavericks’ star player. This was evident when he sustained a hamstring injury during their second match against the Golden State Warriors, resulting in a 109-99 win on March 13.

During the fourth quarter, the All-Star made his way to the locker room and it was later confirmed that he would not be coming back to the court. This also marked the first night of the back-to-back games. As a consequence, he was unable to play in the subsequent game against the OKC Thunder.

Despite facing multiple injury challenges, Doncic persevered throughout the season. He first suffered an ankle sprain which kept him sidelined, and upon his return, he faced another setback when he broke his nose against the Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 5.

Only a week after, during a cross-conference game against the Washington Wizards, Doncic faced yet another injury setback. He sustained a facial injury from an elbow, which required immediate evaluation.

Luka Doncic’s Performance Against the Atlanta Hawks

The basketball player, who has been voted to the All-Star team five times, has played in a total of nine matches against the Atlanta Hawks and has recorded a record of 5-4. In these games, he has maintained an average of 29.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.0 assists, along with 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks. His shooting percentages have been 46.9% from the field, 32.9% from the 3-point line, and 84.7% from the free-throw line.

In their most recent game, Luka Doncic scored a career-high 73 points while shooting 75.8% from the field. He also made eight 3-pointers on 13 attempts, shooting an impressive 61.5% from beyond the arc.
