In a recent livestream, HoYoverse unveiled the details for the highly anticipated ZZZ 1.7 banners, featuring newcomers Vivian and Hugo, along with the return of fan-favorite characters. While the previous version, ZZZ 1.6, introduced Pulchra, the upcoming iteration focuses solely on S-rank agents, a notable choice given the impact of previous characters like Lighter, who continues to perform exceptionally well months after his introduction.

Phase One of ZZZ 1.7 Banners: Vivian and Jane Doe
Launching on April 23, 2025 (or April 22 based on your time zone), the first phase introduces Vivian, a newcomer and anomaly agent, alongside the return of Jane Doe, also an anomaly agent. Both characters will come equipped with their distinctive W-Engines in limited weapon banners, while two A-rank agents join the mix:
- Vivian (Ether, Anomaly)
- Jane Doe (Physical, Anomaly)
- Seth (Electric, Defense)
- Piper (Physical, Anomaly)
Vivian’s character is significant for several reasons. Her unique abilities allow her to attack even when she’s not deployed on the battlefield, akin to Astra Yao. As an Ether agent, she can exploit a prominent enemy weakness, a trait shared by only three other Ether characters in the game—Nicole, Astra Yao, and Zhu Yuan—two of whom are exclusively available in limited banners.
Jane Doe, on the other hand, has seen a decline in popularity among top-tier players due to her dependency on continuous anomaly buildup for effective performance. However, when teamed up with allies like Miyabi, Burnice, Piper, or Seth, she can maintain potent status effects, enhancing her utility on the battlefield.
Phase Two of ZZZ 1.7 Banners: Hugo and Lighter
On May 14, 2025, the second phase of the banners will roll out, featuring another new S-rank character alongside a returning S-rank, enhanced by two familiar A-rank contenders:
- Hugo (Ice, Attack)
- Lighter (Fire, Stun)
- Anton (Electric, Attack)
- Soukaku (Ice, Support)
Hugo shines with his ability to inflict tremendous damage on stunned foes, thanks to his core passive skills, while also delivering substantial ice damage to opponents who are not incapacitated. Lighter, recognized as one of the game’s premier stun agents, continues to add value as he debuts in version 1.6 and transitions into 1.7, with his passive ability significantly lowering enemy resistance to ice and fire. A strategic combination of Lighter and Hugo can indeed maximize their effectiveness, although players should note that both characters are set for reruns soon, with Lighter having made his first appearance just four months ago.
