Windows 10 KB5052077 Released: Fixes for OpenSSH, Narrator, IME, and More

Microsoft Releases Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2

Microsoft has rolled out a new non-security update for users of Windows 10 version 22H2, in addition to the updates released for Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2. The update, identified as KB5052077 (with build number 19045.5555), addresses several technical issues, enhancing the user experience by providing critical fixes for components such as OpenSSH, Narrator, and the Input Method Editor (IME).

Key Highlights of Update KB5052077

Among the noteworthy improvements included in this update are:

  • Daylight Saving Time (DST) Adjustments: This update accommodates the recent DST changes implemented in Paraguay.
  • Narrator Enhancements:
    • Resolved the issue where the Narrator fails to accurately announce the quick action buttons in the Chinese IME candidate window.
    • Fixed the problem of Narrator not announcing the control type for the opt-in item in the Chinese IME suggestion.
    • Corrected the oversight where Narrator did not communicate the heading of the Chinese IME suggestion panel.

Additional Improvements

In addition to the Narrator fixes, several other improvements have been made:

  • Input Method Editor (IME) Fixes:
    • Addressed an issue where the Chinese IME would become non-responsive when font family or size was altered.
    • Improved the color contrast ratio of the Chinese IME search suggestion panel to meet user expectations.
  • Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe): Resolved an issue causing dwm.exe to become unresponsive multiple times.
  • Update for Country and Operator Settings Asset: The update refreshes COSA profiles linked to certain mobile operators.
  • Open Secure Shell (OpenSSH): Fixed a known issue where the service would fail to start, hindering SSH connections; now the sshd.exe must be initiated manually due to the absence of detailed logging.

Remaining Issues

Although this update addresses numerous problems, two known issues persist: one related to Citrix components affecting the installation of certain updates, and the other linked to the System Guard Runtime Monitor Broker, which Microsoft assures users not to be concerned about. Solutions for these issues are expected to be included in a follow-up update.
