“Why is Joao Fonseca wearing exact kit as Iga Swiatek” – Fans blast Roger Federer-backed On Running for allegedly “recycling same kit”
Social media exploded with criticism of apparel brand On yet again when Brazilian rising star Joao Fonseca was spotted sporting the same outfit as Iga Swiatek, much to the dismay of tennis fans.
Swiatek has been donning On’s kits and footwear since March 2023, when she ended her partnership with Asics. At the same time, On also signed on Ben Shelton and Joao Fonseca.
On Wednesday, April 3, Fonseca suffered a 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-4 defeat against Britain’s Jan Choinski in the first round of the Estoril Open. In addition, he also experienced a loss in the ATP 250 event in the doubles competition on the same day.
Despite pairing up with Portugal’s Joao Sousa in the doubles draw, the duo’s performance faltered in the first round as they were defeated by Sam Verbeek and Marcelo Demoliner with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.
Despite Fonseca’s loss, the tennis fans on X (formerly Twitter) were more disappointed by his outfit for the day. They expressed their frustration with On, who had provided him with the same kits as the female player Iga Swiatek, rather than giving him his own unique outfit.
“I hate On Running so much… why is Fonseca wearing the same exact kit and cap as Iga. He’s a 17 year old rising player.. the disrespect is just insane,”a fan wrote.
Following that, the fan proceeded to make a sarcastic remark towards the brand, alluding to Iga Swiatek’s current position as the top-ranked player in the WTA rankings.
“We really about to hit 100 week as #1 recycling the same kit since forever,”the fan added.
A different fan reached out to Roger Federer, who has invested in On Running’s footwear division, to express their complaint. The fan stated:
“@rogerfederer can’t you make a call??”

Iga Swiatek to Lead Poland in 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Qualifiers
The responsibility of leading Poland’s charge against Switzerland in Biel falls on her.
Despite her recent triumph at Indian Wells, Swiatek disappointed at the Miami Open 2024 as she was eliminated in the fourth round by Ekaterina Alexandrova.
Following her national obligations, the four-time Grand Slam champion will travel to Stuttgart to begin her clay court season. Interestingly, Swiatek is the reigning two-time champion in Stuttgart, having defeated Aryna Sabalenka in back-to-back finals in 2022 and 2023.
