As dedicated practitioners of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Tye Ruotolo and his brother Kade strive not only to win competitions, but also to test their abilities against top opponents in order to consistently grow and evolve as fighters in the world of submission grappling.

The Atos standouts, who both joined ONE Championship in 2022, have achieved a great deal of success, ultimately earning the title of world champion. Throughout their journey, they have faced formidable opponents in their respective divisions.

During an interview with CountFilms TV, Kade Ruotolo discussed the mindset they maintain throughout their ONE journey and in their overall BJJ career.

“The accolades and everything that comes with winning in ONE Championship is amazing. But at the end of the day, we’re here to fight the best in the world and we want to be the best in the world. So to be the best in the world, you got to fight the best in the world.”

The Ruotolo brothers’ quest to challenge the top competitors in the sport will persist on April 5 at ONE Fight Night 21: Eersel vs. Nicolas in Bangkok, Thailand, where they will face strong adversaries in individual bouts.

Tye Ruotolo is set to defend their ONE welterweight submission grappling world title against Izaak Michell of Australia, the No. 2-ranked grappler in the 185-pound category who will be making their debut with the promotion.

Meanwhile, Kade, the reigning king of lightweight submission grappling, will face off against Brazilian standout Francisco Lo in a catchweight (180 pounds) grappling match.

ONE Fight Night 21 is scheduled to occur at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on April 5, and will be broadcast live during U.S. primetime. Viewers in the United States and Canada can watch the event for free with a valid Prime Video subscription.

Defending Champion Tye Ruotolo Ready to Defend World Title with Determination

Tye Ruotolo, the current welterweight submission grappling world champion, is just getting started in his reign and is determined to continue it as he prepares for his first title defense this week.

The Atos standout, who is 21 years old, will defend the world title he earned in November against ONE newcomer Izaak Michell at ONE Fight Night 21: Eersel vs. Nicolas on April 5 in Bangkok, Thailand.

During an appearance on The Shintaro Higashi Show on YouTube, Ruotolo discussed his mindset leading up to his initial title defense, stating:

“I’m excited. I’m really excited to defend my belt, you know. This is my first belt defense and yeah, I’m so happy. I just got that belt, you know, obviosuly I don’t want to lose because everyone wants it now.”
