Waze adds new Ghostbusters navigation experience to its app

Waze, the Google-owned navigation app, has recently introduced a new driving experience for users to try out: the Ghostbusters experience. In an announcement, the company stated that this feature is now globally available and includes voice navigation in English to make the experience “a whole lot more paranormal!”

Buckle up Ghostbusters fans, because Waze is about to get a whole lot more paranormal! Our new driving experience features the one and only Ray Stantz — voiced by Dan Aykroyd — from the original Ghostbusters team. Join Ray for a joyful, infectious blast of ghostbusting enthusiasm ahead of Sony Pictures’ Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire that comes to theaters on March 22.

Waze’s Ghostbusters experience includes the voice of paranormal expert Ray Stantz (voiced by Dan Aykroyd) providing directions during your daily commute. In his signature style, the app will give you commute updates such as, “During this drive, I will be giving you verbal directions. Please disregard any clairvoyant or telepathic messages. Those are not coming from me, but from a playful spirit.”

Stantz, a member of the original Ghostbusters team, has appeared in multiple live-action movies released over the years, including the first film in 1984. As part of the experience, you can select Ecto-1 as your car icon on the Waze map, and even choose the ‘Spooky’ mood inspired by Mini-Pufts.

The company announced that the Ghostbusters experience can be accessed from the app’s left menu, but it requires the most up-to-date version of Waze to be installed on your device. Waze has previously included various navigation experiences for special occasions, including one with tennis star Roger Federer.

Additionally, the navigation app owned by Google has implemented numerous features in the past few months. These include improved animations for roundabout navigation, as well as alerts for upcoming speed limits, sharp curves, and speed bumps. Furthermore, the navigation app, which relies on community contributions, also provides alerts for areas with a high frequency of accidents along your chosen route.
