Watch: Chicago Bulls fans get trolled by United Center jumbotron glitch on April Fools’ Day

The United Center was buzzing on Monday night as the Chicago Bulls hosted the Atlanta Hawks. Both teams were vying for spots in the NBA Play-In Tournament bracket. However, the Bulls had a surprise for their fans before the game began, as they celebrated April Fools’ Day with some playful pranks.

Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic shared a video in which the Bulls can be seen trolling fans at the United Center by creating the illusion of a malfunctioning jumbotron. The prank even included a message to the fans, humorously labeling it as a “jumbotron fatal error.”

A list of possible solutions was provided, including restarting the device and reviewing the logs, to address the issue at hand. It also cautioned that the blue screen would be displayed on the jumbotron for a duration of two minutes and that all files could potentially be lost.

Ultimately, the Bulls revealed that their actions were simply a prank for April Fools’ Day. This occurred during the opening minutes of the game, with Chicago leading 8-0 and the Hawks calling a timeout.

The Chicago Bulls held a 1.5 game lead over the Atlanta Hawks and had a record of 36-39 going into the game. The Bulls are anticipated to participate in the NBA Play-In Tournament, and tonight’s match could serve as a glimpse of what is to come.

If the Hawks have a worse record than Chicago, they will not have homecourt advantage in the No. 9 vs. No. 10 matchup. The loser of that game will face the winner of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 matchup to determine the official No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference.

The reward for reaching the playoffs? A chance to face the Boston Celtics in a seven-game series. Last season, the Miami Heat achieved the seemingly impossible by eliminating the number one seeded Milwaukee Bucks.

Will the Chicago Bulls secure a spot in the playoffs?

Despite their efforts, the Chicago Bulls were unable to secure a spot in the playoffs last season as they were unable to defeat the Miami Heat for the eighth and final postseason spot. Despite finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference, the Bulls managed to secure a win against the Toronto Raptors, giving them a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

Despite their best efforts, the Bulls were unable to overcome the dominant Heat and ultimately lost 102-91. This result continues a streak of disappointing finishes for Chicago, as they have not advanced past the first round since the 2014-15 season and have missed the playoffs in five out of the last six years.

Despite facing numerous injuries, the Bulls have improved significantly this season and could potentially achieve the same result. The emergence of Coby White has been a pleasant surprise and he may even be a contender for Most Improved Player of the Year. The success of the Bulls will heavily rely on DeMar DeRozan, and securing at least two wins will be crucial in earning a spot in the postseason.
