In a surprising twist for the gaming landscape in 2024, the Meta Quest 3S has emerged as the top-selling console on Amazon, outpacing established giants like Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. This remarkable feat is especially notable considering the headset’s launch was just in October of the previous year.
The Meta Quest 3S offers a more budget-friendly option compared to its predecessor, the Meta Quest 3, by reducing specifications while significantly lowering the price. While virtual reality has not yet become mainstream among gamers, the combination of its reasonable price and an appealing library of games has converted the Meta Quest 3S into a standout seller on Amazon throughout 2024.
According to Amazon’s best-seller list for the year, the Meta Quest 3S ranked as the top console in the video game category, landing at the impressive #11 spot among all video game products sold. The list featured predominantly gift cards and subscriptions like Xbox Game Pass, with the PlayStation 5 slim console trailing at #17 and the Nintendo Switch far behind at #53. Notably, no Xbox consoles appeared in the top 80, and neither did the PlayStation 5 Pro. Only two accessories—the Nintendo-branded microSDXC card (#8) and the PlayStation DualSense wireless controller (#9)—outperformed the Meta Quest 3S on the overall list.
