Embarking on your adventure in FBC: Firebreak can feel quite daunting, as the game presents numerous challenges and questions that require personal exploration. To enhance your initial gaming experience, I’ve compiled a list of essential tips that could potentially save you from a frustrating cycle of trial and error.
While you’re encouraged to experiment and discover your own strategies, leveraging these insights can provide you with a significant advantage from the outset. Get ready to become a nightmare for the Hiss by implementing these tactics right from the beginning!
1. The Magnum: Your Best Ally
The Signature Weapon of Alan Wake

As a newcomer, you’re introduced to three weapons: a double-barrel shotgun, an SMG, and the Magnum. After extensive use in various missions, it’s evident that the Magnum outperforms the other two weapons, making it the ideal choice.
While the shotgun delivers powerful damage, it requires a cumbersome reload after only two shots and struggles against aerial foes. Conversely, the SMG does minimal damage.
The Magnum stands out with a nearly perfect balance of power and efficiency, capable of eliminating common enemies in just one or two hits, even at long range. Additionally, its Rank 2 upgrade is remarkably easy to achieve, solidifying its status as my weapon of choice.
2. The Splash Kit: Ideal for New Players
Extinguishing Flames Quickly

It’s common to find your character ignited during early missions. To mitigate this, consider equipping the Splash Kit, which allows you or teammates to extinguish flames promptly. Its ultimate ability is particularly advantageous in chaotic situations.
Once you’re comfortable with gameplay mechanics, feel free to explore other kits, each offering distinct benefits.
3. Seek Out the Black Rock Neutralizer
Managing Challenging Anomalies

Upon encountering corrupted areas, you’ll quickly find that conventional weapons are ineffective against anomalies. The only solution is the Black Rock Neutralizer—a powerful weapon that can be found in either Shelters or near Ammo stations. Although its spawn rate can be sporadic, it is crucial to explore thoroughly for these supplies.
Despite its limited ammunition, the Black Rock Neutralizer excels in combat, easily dispatching armored foes. Use this weapon judiciously, conserving ammo for critical encounters.
4. Activate the Ammo Stations
Illuminating Your Path

Throughout your journey in FBC: Firebreak, you’ll encounter ammo stations that may initially be inactive. Rather than attempting to gather ammo in darkness, I suggest taking a moment to activate the generator.
This quick action provides better visibility and quicker access to ammo, crucial when you’re pursued by invading Hiss.Be aware that entering an uncharged station while overwhelmed can lead to being trapped and easily overwhelmed.
When under attack, prioritize charged stations to quickly replenish ammo and retreat to safety.
5. Equip the Pin Collector Perks
The Value of Additional Grenades

While grenades may not deliver immense damage, they’re an essential tool for crowd control in FBC: Firebreak. I often deploy a grenade during reload periods, providing critical breathing room against advancing Hiss enemies.A well-timed grenade can neutralize multiple foes instantly, reinforcing the necessity of the Pin Collector perk.
6. Gather Lost Assets During Missions
Essential for Upgrades

Lost Assets serve as the main currency for FBC: Firebreak, necessary for acquiring items and perks from Requisitions and Research. It’s crucial to actively seek these Lost Assets rather than relying solely on mission completion rewards.
You can typically find Lost Asset folders in Shelters or as drops from formidable enemies, usually encountered near mission conclusions. Your primary objective during missions should be to gather as many Lost Assets as possible.
7. Unlock Shelters Without Hesitation
Facilitating Your Team’s Success

Many players overlook unlocking shelters, thinking their ammunition and health are adequate. However, opening shelters provides access to not only supplies but also enables respawning close to mission objectives in case of death.
Moreover, these shelters also often house Lost Asset folders, making them worth your time and effort.
8. Unlock the Kit’s Special Abilities
Unleashing Devastation

One of my top recommendations for beginners in FBC: Firebreak is to swiftly progress through the Requisition system and unlock the ultimate abilities of all kits. These abilities not only wreak havoc on the Hiss but also enhance gameplay enjoyment.
Though utilizing the Jump Kit can occasionally lead to misfortune, the Fix and Splash Kits offer safer yet effective crowd control options. If your team coordinates these special abilities, you’ll enjoy a significantly more exhilarating gameplay experience.
