The Druid class in Path of Exile 2 combines primal strength with nature-based magic, making it a visually exhilarating and powerful choice for players. Among the available builds, the Bear form stands out as a formidable option for those who wish to charge through maps like a fiery freight train, obliterating enemies in its wake.
The Bear Druid excels in heavy damage output by pulverizing and igniting foes. While it may lack the agility of the Wolf and Wyvern forms, with a well-optimized build, you’ll find yourself navigating through challenges effortlessly. Below is a recommended early-game leveling build for the Bear Druid in Path of Exile 2, designed for a smooth campaign experience.
Bear Druid Leveling Build in Path of Exile 2

Starting your journey as a Bear Druid in Path of Exile 2 offers a slow yet resilient melee fighting style. This setup shares similarities with a Slam Warrior, focusing on area damage while exchanging speed for durability and raw power.
This build emphasizes a Rampage/Walking Calamity approach, pivoting towards maximizing Fire Damage output as you progress. Note that this build is still evolving, encouraging experimentation and adjustments.

Gameplay Strategy

To maximize your effectiveness as a Bear Druid, mastering the use of Rage is crucial. Rage is generated through abilities such as Maul and Fury of the Mountain, enhancing damage output and complementing skills like Furious Slam.
The Enraged version of Furious Slam inflicts greater damage over a wider area and consumes Rage upon activation. Typically, your early-game strategy will involve employing Maul twice to build Rage, followed by casting Furious Slam.
As you progress, consider swapping out Furious Slam for Rampage, which allows for more frequent hits. Utilizing these abilities in combination with Walking Cataclysm facilitates efficient map clearing.
Important: Bear skills like Rampage, Furious Slam, and Walking Calamity have increased casting speed when your character is stationary. Use either Maul or Ferocious Roar to ensure you maintain this stance before unleashing powerful attacks.
Utilizing Fury of the Mountain
This skill functions similarly to Volcanic Fissure from the Mace tree, but with the ability to channel until you deplete your mana. It’s advisable to use Fury of the Mountain against tougher enemies such as bosses to maximize its damage potential.
Your primary combo will be Fury of the Mountain → Maul → Furious Slam, ensuring you deal significant damage in critical encounters.
The Role of Volcano
While Volcano may not appear potent on its own, its effectiveness increases drastically when combined with repeated slams from skills like Fury of the Mountain or Rampage. This spell helps inflict Ignite status on enemies, making them susceptible to specific passives and taking continual damage.
Additionally, Volcano serves as a tactical “panic button, ”providing a safeguard when needed; further strategic application will be discussed in the Passives section.
Combining Ferocious Roar with Infernal Cry

Integrating Infernal Cry as a support gem for Ferocious Roar allows for seamless execution without the need for weapon swapping. While Ferocious Roar will take precedence over Infernal Cry, this adaptation aligns well with the overarching goal of maximizing Fire damage.
Using Ferocious Roar enhances the speed of subsequent casts of Furious Slam, Rampage, and Walking Cataclysm; therefore, it’s advantageous to employ Ferocious Roar just before activating these skills to boost their efficiency.
Passive Skill Tree Overview

Constructing an effective Fire Bear Shaman Druid build in Path of Exile 2 entails diverse possibilities, making it challenging to pinpoint the absolute best choices. Instead, we’ll clarify the rationale behind our Druid’s design, aiding you in making informed decisions based on the limited passive skills available early in the game.

Initially, we selected the Guardian of the Wilds node alongside various early-game damage boosts for improved DPS. Next, we focused on reaching the Primal Rage and Intimidating Hate nodes on the left side of the passive tree. This trajectory offers two significant advantages:
- Primal Rage Nodes: Allows for casting Enraged Furious Slam simply by using Maul buffed via the Rampage Support Gem. The Primal Rage node also increases your maximum Rage, resulting in enhanced damage outputs.
- Invigorating Hate: Transforms the Volcano skill into a self-healing mechanism, restoring 1% of your maximum life for each Rage consumed. This becomes increasingly effective as Rage generation ramps up.
The following targeted area should include the Projectile Bulwark wheel for additional survivability. Another beneficial route involves acquiring Resilient Soul adjacent to Guardian of the Wilds, which enhances health regeneration and damage resistance.
Subsequently, accumulating skills focused on Fire damage becomes crucial, particularly by pursuing the Molten Being node and continuing toward the Bear constellation overhead to acquire Molten Claw and its adjacent nodes.
At this stage, you can tailor skills based on personal needs, whether that involves enhancing Physical Damage if Fire Damage gear is lacking or acquiring more Armor and Resistances to bolster survival.
Be mindful that 51 Strength and Intelligence are required for Walking Calamity, with additional Dexterity necessary for support gems. Plan your stat allocation accordingly as you navigate the passive tree.
Ascendancy Class Choice

This build will predominantly utilize the Shaman Ascendancy, focusing on the Furious Wellspring node, which offers the following benefits:
- Elimination of inherent Rage loss;
- Generation of 6% Max Rage per second;
- Increase in maximum Rage by 7;
- Skills that consume Rage incur an increased cost of 5.
Recommended Equipment

As this is primarily a leveling build, acquiring gear is relatively straightforward. Aim for items with the highest base stats while keeping an eye out for beneficial affixes. Here are the key equipment recommendations:
| Weapons |
Look for a Talisman that enhances both damage and attack speed. Prioritize flat damage over percentage bonuses while aiming for a combination of both. |
| Armor |
Choose between pure Armor or Armor/Energy Shields. Focus on accumulating defensive statistics, emphasizing Armor and guards against your weakest elemental threats. |
| Accessories |
Select rings and amulets that grant damage bonuses along with elemental resistances. |
Don’t stress about achieving perfect gear immediately. As long as your weapon boasts high Physical Damage and your armor provides adequate defense, you’re well-prepared.
The variety of league mechanics found in Path of Exile 2 can make gearing up more straightforward, so tackle any related tasks promptly.
