Venus Williams responded with humor to Iga Swiatek’s mistake of confusing her iconic Miami Open ensemble for one worn by American singer Katy Perry.

During the 2024 Miami Open, Swiatek participated in a lighthearted activity with her fellow players Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka, and Carlos Alcaraz. Together, they tried to identify which players had worn some of the tournament’s most memorable outfits throughout the years.

Upon being informed that the game was actually about guessing tennis players’ outfits, the 22-year-old hilariously admitted her mistake and revealed that she had mistakenly thought it involved all types of celebrities.

After Iga Swiatek’s mix-up, Venus Williams responded with humor by playfully suggesting a joint tour with Katy Perry and expressing gratitude to the Pole for the brilliant suggestion.

“Time for a @katyperry X Venus Tour? Thanks for the idea, @iga.swiatek ✨,”Williams commented.

The World No. 1 jokingly asked to be included in the hypothetical tour proposed by the pair.

“@venuswilliams can I join?🫠🥺,”Swiatek replied.

During a recent interview, Iga Swiatek discussed the players she admired during her formative years. The top-ranked player promptly revealed that Rafael Nadal was her role model, citing his strong work ethic and humble demeanor as major sources of motivation.

Additionally, she recognized the considerable influence that Venus Williams and Serena Williams had on shaping the current landscape of the sport.

“Serena and Venus Williams for shaping our game in the way we (play) it today and changing it on so many levels,”she added.

Despite her efforts, Iga Swiatek’s attempt to secure her second Sunshine Double was disrupted in the fourth round of the Miami Open when she suffered a surprising straight-set defeat to Ekaterina Alexandrova.

The 22-year-old’s focus shifts to the clay season as she prepares to defend her title at the WTA 500 event, the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart (April 13-21).
