The Rock must betray Roman Reigns at WrestleMania for nearly 40 year old feud to come full circle

The Rock and Roman Reigns are gearing up for a highly anticipated battle at WrestleMania 40. This could potentially have a significant impact on their dynamic if The Final Boss were to turn on The Tribal Chief during their tag team match on Night 1, or if Reigns were to face off against Cody Rhodes for the Universal Championship on Night 2.

If this scenario were to occur, it could result in a rivalry between the two powerhouse celebrities and potentially lead to a showdown at WrestleMania 41. This would also serve as a resolution to a decades-long feud between their fathers, Rocky Johnson and Sika, which has spanned nearly 40 years.

In the early 1980s, Rocky Johnson and Sika joined WWE (then WWF) and began competing in the tag team division. On December 10, 1983, Rocky Johnson and Tony Atlas formed The Soul Patrol and defeated Sika and Afa, known as the Wild Samoans, to become the tag team champions. This victory made them the first black champions in WWE history.

“For you guys who don’t know, Roman and I are family. We’re cousins, our dads wrestled against each other in the 80s. And as a matter of fact, his dad and our uncle Afa and Sika, they were the first Samoan tag team champions of the WWE, and then my dad and Tony Atlas became the first black tag team champions in WWE, beating his dad, my uncle, so it goes way back,”The Rock said during his appearance alongside Reigns on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. (4:58 – 5:25).

Despite the ongoing feud between The Wild Samoans and The Soul Patrol, the latter successfully defended their tag team titles multiple times and remained victorious for a few months.

The Ultimate Showdown: Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes

In October 1980, Sika, the father of Roman Reigns, not only had a feud with The Rock’s father, Rocky Johnson, but also with the legendary Dusty Rhodes, the father of Cody Rhodes. The Wild Samoans were involved in a collision with Rhodes and his tag team partner, Pat Patterson.

43 years later, their sons are getting ready to compete for a second time at WrestleMania, potentially bringing an end to the long-standing rivalry between two of the most accomplished wrestling dynasties.

Roman Reigns carries on the legacy of Samoan dominance in WWE, guided by his father’s wisdom

The Samoan heritage has proven to be a formidable force in the WWE, with a history of success spanning from Sika and Afa to Rikishi, the Usos, and Roman Reigns. Their dominance in the sport has been unwavering.

For three and a half years, Reigns has held the title of Universal Champion and has consistently sought to uphold his father’s wisdom and guidance. He has referenced his father in numerous promos, particularly during his Bloodline era.

“From the very beginning my dad always taught me that when you come around this ring, it’s only about money. It’s only about drawing money,”Reigns said during the A&E Biography: WWE Legends documentary.

If The Rock were to betray him and instigate a feud between the two of them, we can anticipate The Tribal Chief bringing up his father once more.

Family Ties: The Unbreakable Bond Between The Rock and Roman Reigns

Despite popular belief, The Rock and Roman Reigns are not actually cousins in real life. However, they do share a familial connection as part of the same family lineage, making them blood brothers. This close bond extends beyond the wrestling ring, as they have a strong relationship and often speak highly of one another.

Although they have never faced off in the ring, if The Rock were to betray Reigns at Mania, it could result in The Tribal Chief turning into a good guy after nearly four years of being a villain.
