The final Halo-based Red vs Blue movie will be available to buy digitally May 7
Warner Bros. Discovery recently announced the closure of its Rooster Teeth division. The company gained recognition in 2003 when a small team in Austin, Texas released a video titled Red vs Blue. This video, created within the engine of the popular Xbox game Halo by Microsoft and Bungie, humorously depicted the conflict between red and blue Spartan soldiers on the Blood Gulch map.
Despite the video’s viral success, Rooster Teeth remained dedicated to creating new seasons of Red vs Blue, incorporating newer games from the Halo franchise. As the company prepares to close its doors, the team has one final story to share in the highly anticipated film, Red vs. Blue: Restoration.

According to Deadline, the 87-minute film is set to debut as a digital-only release on May 7, and will be available for purchase on popular online platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, and Vudu. Digital rentals will also be offered starting May 21. However, it is currently unknown if the movie will be released on physical disc in the future.
The following is a short summary of the movie’s plot:
The final movie will be written by Burnie Burns, a co-founder of Rooster Teeth who had previously left the company in 2020. Matt Hullum, also a co-founder of Rooster Teeth and the voice of Sarge in Red vs. Blue, will direct the film.
Following the success of Red vs Blue, Rooster Teeth went on to produce a variety of other projects, including live-action, animation, and machinima titles such as RWBY and Gen:LOCK. It is currently unknown what will become of these properties once the company ceases operations.
