“That’s the only thing he can do against me” – Marat Grigorian says one-dimensional Superbon can’t beat him a second time

“That’s the only thing he can do against me” – Marat Grigorian says one-dimensional Superbon can’t beat him a second time

Superbon Training Camp is widely regarded as the most talented kickboxer of their generation, although Marat Grigorian, his rival, may have a differing opinion.

Grigorian and Superbon are set to meet for the second time in ONE Championship at ONE Friday Fights 58, with the ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world championship on the line.

During an interview with ONE Championship, Grigorian confidently stated that he possesses an abundance of skills to handle Superbon’s perceived limited range of techniques within the ring.

The Armenian celebrity emphasized that Superbon would predominantly use his kicks rather than incorporating a variety of moves during his attacks.

According to Marat Grigorian:

“I think he will do the same game plan as the last time, just teeping me away and throwing some knees. I think that’s the only thing that he can do against me. And yes, I will work on distance, take my points, and that’s it.”

Superbon and Grigorian’s inaugural encounter took place at ONE Championship’s highly anticipated ONE X event in March 2022.

Despite the lack of an iconic knockout, which is often associated with both fighters, the fight was a brutal game of strategy where Superbon controlled the majority of the match.

As the reigning world champion, Superbon ultimately ended up retaining the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title with a unanimous decision.

On April 5, Friday, at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Grigorian will have the opportunity to seek revenge for his previous loss.

Marat Grigorian shares secrets to maintaining mental toughness before ONE Friday Fights 58

Undoubtedly, Marat Grigorian is a formidable striker of his generation, and his prowess in the ring can be attributed to more than just his physical abilities.

The three-time Glory Kickboxing world champion discussed his routine of preparing his mindset before every fight, particularly when there is a chance to compete for a ONE Championship title.

Sportsmanor was told by Grigorian:

“My body is ready, but [the only thing left] is to prepare for the mind, you know, in your head. On this level, it’s very important to get ready in your mind and your body. My body is very strong, but I just need to be focused [in] my mindset, because mindset is more important on this level.”
