Team Cherry: Hollow Knight Silksong Receives Xbox Store Page With ESRB Rating

The long-awaited Hollow Knight Silksong now has an Xbox Store page, which includes an ESRB rating.

On April 1st, the highly anticipated sequel to 2017’s Hollow Knight finally appeared on the Xbox store page after much anticipation. The post made by Team Cherry’s marketing and PR handler, Matthew ‘Leth’ Griffin, caused some to believe it was an April Fool’s joke. However, the ESRB has now officially rated the game as “Everyone 10+”with “fantasy violence”and “mild blood”, just like its predecessor. Interestingly, Silksong has had pages on the Nintendo eShop and PS Store for several years, but they do not currently display an ESRB rating.

Typically, games are rated close to their release date, however this does not necessarily indicate that Silksong will be released soon. It is common for games to receive ratings several months before they are actually released.

Originally intended as an expansion for Hollow Knight in 2017, Silksong has since evolved into a full-fledged sequel due to the ambitious scope of the game. Initially planned for release in the first half of last year, Team Cherry made the decision to delay the game in order to ensure its quality. As stated by Griffin in an interview with X last year, “Our original goal was to release in the 1st half of 2023, but we are still in the development process. We are extremely pleased with the game’s progress and its immense size, so we want to take the necessary time to perfect it.”

Hollow Knight Silksong will be available on PC, Xbox (with Game Pass on the release day), PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
