“Take it from MJ” – Michael Jordan had players scratching heads during NBA wine partnership at 2020 Bubble championship

The name Michael Jordan is commonly linked to the legendary six-time NBA champion who famously led the Chicago Bulls to two three-peats during his historic career. Widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, the name has become synonymous with one individual. Amidst the controversial NBA bubble, his name sparked some confusion.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, NBA players traveled to Florida to participate in the NBA bubble while the world was on lockdown. Although this provided an opportunity for fans to watch their favorite players in action, it was not a favorable situation for many players.

In the bubble, there was a lot of interest in wine due to NBA players like JJ Redick, Jimmy Butler, and LeBron James, all of whom are wine connoisseurs. Redick even expressed his disappointment with the lack of quality wine available.

After Reddick complained about the lack of high-quality wine, Jackson Family Wine brought in 50 cases to improve the selection. Furthermore, a virtual wine tasting was arranged and led by Jordan, although it was not the type that would typically come to mind for fans of MJ and NBA players.

Despite being a 5’4 wine expert, this particular Jordan’s skin tone did not align with that of the six-time NBA champion. During an interview with ESPN, the wine connoisseur explained:

“It’s always hilarious. Because I’m a short, white Michael Jordan — and an Italian. It’s crazy. I loved coming up and Michael was making my name famous, and he was my hero too. Nobody had done what he had done.”

Similarly, he clarified that he overheard multiple players inquiring, “Who exactly is this Michael Jordan character?”

Exploring Michael Jordan’s Relationship with Alcohol

Although wine expert MJ advised NBA players that they cannot make a bad choice with Rosé, this MJ is enthusiastic about a different type of alcoholic beverage: Tequila.

The Hall of Famer and six-time NBA champion is a co-owner and co-founder of Cincoro Tequila. Throughout his career, Jordan was often spotted enjoying a drink and smoking a cigar. This love for spirits inspired him to collaborate with other NBA owners in the creation of Cincoro Tequila.

The brand was established by Emilia Fazzalari and Wyc Grousbeck, owners of the Boston Celtics, along with Jeanie Buss, owner of the LA Lakers, Wes Edens, owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, and NBA legend Michael Jordan. According to the tale, the group gathered for a dinner, and connected over their shared appreciation for tequila.

Cincoro Tequila was born due to the belief that unlike other alcoholic beverages, drinking tequila provides a smoother experience without the harsh after-effects.

The high-end liquor brand takes great pride in their premium tequila which boasts a sophisticated flavor profile that is described as exceptionally smooth and luxurious on their website. While renowned wine expert Michael Jordan may have a preference for rosé, THE Michael Jordan has a strong affinity for tequila.
