Space Marine 2’s New Operations Map Arriving in October with 4K Texture Pack for PC

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive launched Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 in September, captivating millions of fans. Now, the studio is gearing up for the game’s first significant content update and beyond. In their latest community update, they announced that a hotfix is in the works to address crashes and stability issues. Additionally, a major update featuring a new mission is on the horizon.

Players will engage in combat on Planet Kadaku, a jungle world filled with muddy forests and swamps, as part of a fresh map for the Operations mode. These co-op missions, designed for play after the campaign, focus on the narratives of various Space Marine squads completing different objectives while the main trio from the campaign tackle their own missions elsewhere on the planet.

Here’s how the studio describes the new map and mission setting:

The Tyranid invasion of Kadaku is reaching its climax. The planet’s organic resources are being converted into biomass, and towering Tyranid Capillary structures loom overhead, where Hive Ships await their triumph.

The Cadian forces have bravely attempted to push back the Tyranids. A contingent of Space Marines arrives on Kadaku with a straightforward directive: assist the Cadians in demolishing the towers. Despite the impending Tyranid victory, the Imperium is determined to inflict significant pain on them.

In addition, the developer is actively creating a 4K texture pack for PC players, which will be offered for free in the future. This will likely be an optional download, available for those with sufficient hardware capabilities, particularly in VRAM. Along with this, new customization options, including additional colors for lenses, are also in development.

Focus Entertainment previously shared their post-launch plans for Space Marine 2 in August, outlining the upcoming content slated for the game’s first year of support. More details can be found here.
