“Someone’s trying to solve Bermuda Triangle mystery”: Stefanos Tsitsipas on Andy Roddick & Monica Puig trying to decode his funny pizza observation
Stefanos Tsitsipas recently playfully teased former tennis players Andy Roddick and Monica Puig for attempting to decipher his funny comment about pizzas.
Recently, Tsitsipas used his creativity to come up with a unique observation about how a round pizza is packaged in a square box but then consumed in triangular slices.
“We put round pizza in a square box and eat it in triangles,”Tsitsipas wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
During their coverage of the 2024 Miami Open for Tennis Channel, Andy Roddick and Monica Puig came across a tweet from a Greek individual. When Steve Weissman, the moderator of the segment, posed the question to Roddick, he was asked to share his thoughts on Tsitsipas’ theory about pizza.
“Not something that I’ve ever really put much time into thinking about. Umm, it all ends up in the stomach, it doesn’t really matter how he gets there,”Andy Roddick replied.
On the flip side, Monica Puig contended that there exist dining establishments that mold their pizza slices into a square shape.
“What about the places that do cut up the pizza into square slices? Very philosophical but I have my question marks,”Puig said.
In response, Roddick facetiously insisted on receiving an Emmy award for his exchange with Puig and Weissman about pizzas.
“I’m a New York-style guy… and I say this every once in a while, Steve. I will be stunned if we don’t win an Emmy for this segment,”he said.
Upon stumbling upon Roddick and Puig’s conversation on the official Instagram account of Tennis Channel, Tsitsipas left a comment below the post implying that the former players delved into a topic that might have been too deep.
“Looks like someone’s trying to solve the Bermuda Triangle mystery. One pizza slice at a time guys,”Stefanos Tsitsipas wrote.
Stefanos Tsitsipas drops to 12th in latest ATP men’s singles rankings update
On Monday, April 1, when the ATP updates their official rankings, Stefanos Tsitsipas will rise to the 12th position on the men’s singles circuit.
From March 4, 2019 to February 18, 2024, the Greek consistently held a spot in the Top 10 rankings. However, on February 19, due to his lackluster performance at the start of the 2024 season, he fell to World No. 11.
Despite his best efforts, he was unable to defend his runner-up points at the Australian Open in January, ultimately falling in the fourth round. Similarly, he was unable to retain his Los Cabos title as he stumbled in the semifinals.
In the latest development, Stefanos Tsitsipas was eliminated from the Miami Open after being defeated by Denis Shapovalov in his first match. Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov, currently ranked 12th, advanced to the final in Miami, securing a spot in the Top 10 and causing Tsitsipas to drop to 12th place.
