A custom Gigabyte Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU has been spotted for sale in Slovakia at a staggering price of €1, 600 (approximately US$1, 679).This elevated price point raises concerns over possible scalping activities in the upcoming GPU market.
Rising Scalper Prices for the Radeon RX 9070 XT: A Comparison to RTX 4090
As we approach the anticipated launch of the Radeon RX 9070 XT—scheduled for March 2023—units have begun arriving at retailers across various regions. Notably, a recent leak indicated that the sales embargo is set to be lifted on March 6, suggesting that consumers may want to delay their purchases until official pricing is confirmed.

Unfortunately, it seems scalpers are seizing the opportunity to exploit early sales by listing GPUs at inflated prices in underground markets. A notable example surfaced on Reddit, where a user from Slovakia advertised a custom Radeon RX 9070 XT, specifically the Gigabyte Gaming OC edition.
The asking price on this listing is significantly inflated, suggested to be approximately twice the anticipated official MSRP, which could range from $699 to $849 for a premium model. Given this context, we advise potential buyers to be cautious and refrain from paying more than what the GPU is expected to cost when released.
While the original Reddit post has since been deleted, a recorded unboxing video of the GPU remains accessible on X, further corroborating the product’s existence.

Recent leaks concerning power supply recommendations offer insights into the expected specifications of the RX 9070 XT. It appears that while some variants will require an 850W power supply, others may need up to 900W. Current reports indicate that the GPU won’t likely exceed a Total Design Power (TDP) of 400W; instead, it is predicted to operate at around 260W for the reference edition and up to 330W for overclocked variants.

The Gigabyte Gaming OC RX 9070 XT features a factory overclocked design, equipped with a triple-fan cooling system and three 8-pin power connectors. In terms of size, it is a 2.5-slot card, measuring 29 cm in length and 12 cm in width. Market analysts suggest that this GPU is positioned to compete with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070 Ti.
This upcoming GPU is expected to be unveiled on February 28, with retail availability commencing just one week later. Coinciding with this, NVIDIA will also be launching its RTX 5070 model, while the RTX 5070 Ti is merely five days away from its retail debut.
