Samsung, the renowned South Korean semiconductor manufacturer, is making strides to solidify its presence in the United States. Recent job postings on the company’s website reveal an ambitious plan, including the establishment of a state-of-the-art chip facility in Taylor, Texas. This facility aims to leverage cutting-edge manufacturing techniques, notably the 2-nanometer process, to produce advanced semiconductor products. Earlier this year, Samsung recruited a former sales executive from TSMC, and it has been reported by the Korean Economic Daily that the company is willing to offer up to $300, 000 to attract top talent for its sales team.
Samsung’s Strategy: Aggressive Sales Focus to Recoup US Investment Costs
Currently, Samsung stands as the sole competitor to TSMC in the contract chip manufacturing sector capable of offering leading-edge technology, including the 2-nanometer process. However, Samsung’s production yields have led many major technology companies to primarily rely on the well-established Taiwanese manufacturer for their semiconductor needs.
Mirroring TSMC’s strategic investments, Samsung is also developing a new manufacturing plant in the U. S.This facility, located in Taylor, Texas, is anticipated to begin mass production by 2026, contributing to national efforts aimed at enhancing domestic semiconductor fabrication capabilities.
In contrast, TSMC’s Arizona facility has already commenced operations, actively producing 4-nanometer GPUs and processors for major clients like Apple and NVIDIA. For contract semiconductor manufacturers, maintaining a robust order flow is critical; it facilitates the swift recovery of significant initial investments.

To expand its footprint in the U. S.market, Samsung is aggressively recruiting sales professionals, particularly in California, with salary offers exceeding $300, 000. For roles such as foundry sales director, the salary can range from $200, 000 to $319, 800, while senior managers in foundry customer service can expect compensation between $180, 950 and $289, 050, as reported by the Economic Daily.
Notably, these compensation packages significantly surpass those for similar positions in South Korea. For instance, Samsung is offering account managers salaries ranging from $140, 515 to $217, 485, and for senior research managers, the maximum compensation can reach $266, 910.
Recruitment efforts will focus on building relationships with potential U. S.clients, necessary to compete with TSMC’s well-established customer base, which includes industry giants like Apple. Reports indicate that TSMC has already begun shipping chip wafers from its Arizona facility. Both Samsung and TSMC are set on introducing advanced chip manufacturing technologies and capabilities within their respective U. S.operations.
