Predator: Hunting Grounds will get payback time with its Xbox Series X|S launch in late 2024

In 2020, the movie-based multiplayer shooter Predator: Hunting Grounds was released by developer IllFonic and publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment. However, due to Sony’s involvement, the game was only available on the PS4 and Windows PCs. Today, IllFonic revealed that they have acquired the publishing rights from Sony and are currently developing a version of Predator Hunting Grounds for Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S consoles.

Illfonic announced in an email press release that the Xbox Series X and S versions, as well as a version for Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, will be released in the latter part of 2024. According to Illfonic, the release date is yet to be determined.

This release is focused on next-gen running on Unreal 4.27, Vivox, and Wwise, with a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition offered.

Prior to the release of the new version, IllFonic has announced plans to release a free update for the game on PC and PS4 in April. This patch will bring enhancements to player movement, as well as weapon balancing and other improvements.

Even more intriguing is that IllFonic intends to supplement the game with extra content. While specifics are limited, the developer has confirmed the addition of “New Predators”in the winter of 2024 and “More new Predators”in the spring of 2025.

The concept of the game is reminiscent of the original Predator film. Players can assume the role of a member of a human soldier squad navigating through a dense jungle in pursuit of the extraterrestrial trophy hunter. Alternatively, they can take on the role of the Predator, utilizing its advanced camouflage and a range of weapons to hunt down the human team.

Following the launch of the primary game, various paid DLC packs were introduced, featuring characters from the Predator movies. These included Dutch, portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the first movie, and the sniper Isabelle, played by Alice Braga in Predators. Additionally, a variety of alternate Predator characters were also introduced.
