Prajanchai showers Jonathan Di Bella with high praise: “He’s the king of kickboxing”

At ONE Friday Fights 58, Prajanchai is seeking to push himself by venturing into relatively uncharted territory.

The strawweight Muay Thai world champion has established himself as the undisputed top fighter in his weight class.

After avenging his unexpected loss to Joseph Lasiri in December, it became clear that he was the undisputed king of the division. This left the champion in search of a new challenge to conquer.

On April 5, his goal is to become a two-sport world champion as he takes on strawweight kickboxing world champion Jonathan Di Bella at Lumpinee Stadium.

Despite being the defending champion, many consider the underdog in this fight due to Prajanchai’s extensive experience.

During an interview with the South China Morning Post, Prajanchai stated that he doesn’t view the fight in the same way, citing Di Bella’s unbeaten record as a kickboxer and the unique experience he brings to the table.

“The fact that he said he is the underdog, I don’t think so. I disagree with that. He’s been competing in kickboxing for several fights and I feel like he’s the king of kickboxing. I feel like I’m the underdog. I’m not familiar with the rules like him, and he hasn’t even been defeated in ONE Championship. So I don’t think he’s the underdog, I’m the underdog.”

Is Prajanchai the Underdog or Just Playing Mind Games?

It is true that Prajanchai is correct in his statement regarding Jonathan Di Bella potentially having an advantage in kickboxing experience for this fight.

Despite this, the fact that his record contains notable names is why numerous people have predicted the challenger to be the favored contender in this champion versus champion showdown.

Despite Di Bella’s impressive technical abilities in the ring, he lacks the same level of schedule strength as the Thai striker.

The challenger possesses extensive striking experience and has emerged victorious against some of the top competitors in the world.

Despite Prajanchai’s debut in kickboxing for this fight, it is evident that he has faced tougher opponents, making it no surprise that many are predicting a new champion to be crowned on April 5.

ONE Friday Fights 58 will be broadcasted live during Asian prime time on global PPV through watch.onefc.com.
