The rising reports of Ryzen 9600X processor failures on ASRock motherboards have raised eyebrows in the tech community. While issues with non-X3D processors aren’t uncommon, the frequency at which failures are being documented for the Ryzen 9600X has become a significant concern.
Increasing Number of Ryzen 5 9600X Failures on ASRock Motherboards
In just the past month, a minimum of four users have reported their Ryzen 5 9600X CPUs failing while installed on ASRock 600 and 800 series motherboards. While it is possible there are other undocumented cases related to different motherboards, the evidence suggests a worrying trend.
Several reports indicate that at least four to five users experienced complete system failures. Their PCs failed to post, with some users, including u/NojuslsCute and u/RobotRollCall24, noting that the DRAM or CPU debug LEDs remained illuminated continuously.

Many of these users undertook extensive troubleshooting, yet the issues persisted, indicating a potential CPU failure. Notably, user u/etrain1804 shared his experience where an ASRock B850M PRO RS motherboard operated smoothly for eight months before his Ryzen 9600X CPU failed, necessitating an RMA for a replacement.

Another concerning case is reported by u/Shelcreature, who experienced two separate CPU failures while using the ASRock B850M Pro-A Wifi motherboard. After losing his first Ryzen 9600X in October 2025, he received a replacement that also failed within three months. This second incident occurred while utilizing BIOS version v3.50, released in September 2025.
Additionally, u/SpecificSun9142 reported that his Ryzen 9600X failed after six months on an ASRock B850M PRO RS WiFi motherboard. Yet another user, u/GamerGoblin, reported multiple failures as well. The increasing frequency of these failures raises serious questions about the reliability of these motherboards beyond just the 9800X3D models, impacting multiple Ryzen 9600X, 9700X, 9950X/3D, and even a number of Ryzen 7000 series processors.
