Despite 60% of the world being covered, it seems that progress is being made. China Mobile recently declared the official release of 5G-Advanced, also referred to as 5.5G or 5GA, and the Oppo Find X7 series is leading the industry with its support for this upgraded network standard.
Oppo Find X7 Series: The First to Support 5.5G, Claimed to Be 300% Faster than 5G
Pete Lau, Chief Product Officer, shared a photo on social media displaying the 5G icon in the status bar. The smartphone in question is the Find X7 Ultra, and I am thrilled that the company has achieved the feat of being the first to offer this feature.

What makes this even more intriguing is that according to another post, both the Find X7 Ultra and the standard model will receive 5.5G compatibility. What’s noteworthy about this is that the two phones are equipped with different chipsets – the vanilla version has the equally capable MediaTek Dimensity 9300, while the Ultra variant runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Nevertheless, Oppo seems to be ensuring that both devices are able to support the new standard.
Oppo is not the only company facing this challenge. Reports suggest that over 20 devices will be compatible with the new network in the span of a year. China Mobile has ambitious plans to expand the 5.5G network to 300 cities by the end of this year, with the initial 100 cities including major areas like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
Despite being a smaller upgrade, 5.5G is reported to be 300% faster and capable of reaching speeds up to 10Gbps for downloads and 1Gbps for uploads. China Mobile has already implemented demonstration areas throughout the country, allowing those in China with an Oppo Find X7 device to experience the benefits of the latest network.
