NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, recently visited Taiwan to reveal exciting developments regarding an AI-focused PC chip, highlighting the collaboration with MediaTek on this innovative project.

Jensen Huang Validates NVIDIA’s N1/N1X Chips, Launch Expected in H2 2026

Despite disappointing fans at CES 2026 with no new consumer GPU announcements, NVIDIA’s upcoming AI PC System-on-Chip (SoC) is generating interest among gamers. Scheduled for release in the latter half of 2026, Huang assured Taiwanese media that this long-awaited chip has been meticulously co-developed with MediaTek, specifically designed for scenarios where power efficiency is paramount.

According to UDN, the new N1/N1X chip is engineered to ensure “low power consumption paired with exceptional performance, ”particularly for edge AI applications. This dual focus could position it as a game-changer in the growing field of AI-driven technologies.

The N1/N1X chips will be ARM-based and reflect a design approach similar to that of the GB10 Superchip. Although the specifics remain largely under wraps, it’s confirmed that these chips will leverage TSMC’s cutting-edge 3 nanometer process and feature compatibility with Windows on ARM (WoA).Initial excitement surrounding the AI PC chip has been met with challenges, as NVIDIA was reportedly dissatisfied with earlier prototypes, prompting a delay in the launch until 2026.

Anticipations suggest that the upcoming N1/N1X chips may be a simplified iteration of the GB10 Superchip used in DGX Spark. This approach would likely involve fewer cores and modified configurations to achieve a more efficient thermal design power (TDP) suitable for consumer electronics. Additionally, there’s speculation that NVIDIA may incorporate an RTX chiplet into the integrated GPU, paving the way for synergistic advancements in both x86 and ARM ecosystems.

The success of Intel’s Panther Lake chips indicates that compact devices and laptops will increasingly dominate the market, especially as edge applications gain traction from an AI perspective. This evolving landscape presents NVIDIA with an invaluable opportunity to harness the burgeoning AI PC trend, fostering an inclusive ecosystem beneficial for both consumer and enterprise markets.
