Google Workspace Integrates New Gemini AI Features at No Extra Cost
In an exciting update for users of Google Workspace Business and Enterprise plans, Google has announced enhanced access to various Gemini AI functionalities without the requirement for an additional subscription. This change enables users to take full advantage of six advanced AI-powered features across essential applications like Google Meet, Google Chat, and Google Drawings.
Enhancements in Google Meet
One standout improvement in Google Meet is the capability to generate personalized meeting backgrounds using artificial intelligence. This feature provides users with the option to obscure their surroundings during video calls or elevate the ambiance of their meetings. The image generation tool has been recently upgraded to include a new AI model alongside multiple stylistic choices.
Another innovative feature called “Studio Look”leverages machine learning technology to enhance video quality during Google Meet calls. It effectively minimizes background noise and sharpens video feeds, rectifying common pitfalls associated with subpar webcams. Additionally, the “Studio Lighting”function ensures optimal illumination by simulating professional studio lighting, adjusting brightness, and light positioning within the user’s video stream.
Audio Improvements with Studio Sound
The “Studio Sound”feature, powered by Gemini AI, addresses audio quality challenges by balancing frequencies that may be lost or distorted. This significantly upgrades audio clarity for those utilizing Bluetooth headsets or connecting in via dial-in. The combination of these functionalities aims to create a more professional meeting experience.
Advanced Translation Capabilities in Google Chat
Users of Google Chat can benefit from the new “Translate for Me”feature, which has the ability to detect and translate text in over 120 languages. This function streamlines communication by allowing users to engage in conversations without the complexity of switching between multiple applications. The original message is conveniently displayed for reference.
Image Editing Made Easy in Google Drawings
Google Drawings is also set to include Gemini’s image background removal tool, a feature that is already accessible in Google Slides and Google Vids. Users can simply navigate to an image in Google Drawings, select “Edit image, ”and then click on “Remove background”to utilize this functionality.
Deployment Timeline and Availability
According to a recent blog post from Google, the rollout of custom backgrounds, studio lighting, and studio sound is currently in progress. The translation and background removal features are already live, with the “Studio Look”functionality expected to launch on March 18.
These enhancements are available for various Workspace tiers, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus. Notably, these features signify Google’s shift away from standalone Gemini offerings to a more integrated approach within their core suite of services. Earlier this year, the company phased out certain Gemini-related add-ons like Gemini Business and AI Meetings.
