New York Knicks Injury Report: Latest on OG Anunoby and Josh Hart’s status against Kings (April 4)

On Thursday, the New York Knicks will meet the Sacramento Kings for the second and last time this season. The Knicks emerged victorious in their previous meeting on March 16 with a score of 98-91, and this upcoming game is one of five scheduled by the NBA. The Knicks have declared OG Anunoby as unavailable, but Josh Hart’s status is uncertain.

Despite the absence of key players, the Knicks are still positioned near the top of the Eastern Conference playoff standings. Currently ranked fifth, they are currently on a three-game losing streak but had previously won six out of their last seven games before this decline.

Despite a sluggish start to the season, the Kings have recently gained momentum and are steadily climbing the ranks in the Western Conference. As they head into this away game, they carry with them consecutive victories and a record of six wins in their last nine matchups.

The Status of OG Anunoby and Josh Hart

The New York Knicks clarified Anunoby’s injury as right elbow tendinopathy, also known as tennis elbow, after previous reports attributed his absence to ‘injury management’.

The 26-year-old has not played in the last seven games since his last appearance on Mar. 16 against the Kings in Sacramento. According to Tom Thibodeau, Anunoby has been dealing with inflammation, a common symptom of tendinopathy.

After undergoing surgery on his elbow in February, he was unable to play for 18 games. However, he was able to make a comeback and play in three consecutive games starting on Mar. 12. Due to the absence of a set return date for Anunoby, it is uncertain if he will be able to play for the rest of the regular season and potentially participate in the playoffs.

Hart is struggling with an injured shooting wrist. With Thursday’s game marking the start of a back-to-back schedule, there is a high chance that he may not be able to play.

If Hart is unable to play, Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks could potentially take over his minutes.
