“Movement is medicine” – Aryna Sabalenka on return to training after thanking fans for their support during ‘difficult time’
After an emotional outing at the recently concluded Miami Open, Aryna Sabalenka shared a video of herself putting in the hard work.
Despite the difficult circumstances surrounding the death of her ex-boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov, the Belarusian managed to compete in the Miami Open a few days later. Despite the emotional toll, she was able to defeat her good friend Paula Badosa in the second round before ultimately falling to Anhelina Kalinina in the third round. Her determination and strength during this time were admirable.
Despite her early departure from the Miami tournament, the current second-ranked player in the world is now focusing on preparing for the upcoming Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, which is set to take place from April 15 to 21. She recently shared a video on Instagram showcasing her training in a gym, with the caption:
“Movement is Medicine for the Body and Soul 🫶👊💪 #moving #is #the #key”
The video was shared only a few hours after the Belarusian had sent a message to her supporters, expressing her gratitude for their support during a challenging period. The message stated:
“I want to take a moment to say thank you to all my fans for your outpouring love and support during this difficult time. Your kind words mean so much and I carry them with me every day. I am so grateful for you all.”
Despite starting the year strong with a runner-up finish at the Brisbane International and successfully defending her Australian Open title without dropping a set, Sabalenka’s form has since declined. The 25-year-old has only managed a 3-3 win-loss record in her recent matches.
Aryna Sabalenka Continues to Struggle in Stuttgart Despite Reaching Three Finals
Despite reaching the finals in each of the last three editions, Aryna Sabalenka has yet to win the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart.
The Belarusian made her debut in the 2021 competition, coming in as the fifth seed. She defeated second-seeded Simona Halep in the semifinals but ultimately lost to top-seeded Ashleigh Barty 6-3, 0-6, 3-6 in the final.
In the following year, Sabalenka defeated Anett Kontaveit and Paula Badosa but ultimately lost to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the final with a score of 2-6, 2-6. In 2023, she once again faced her friend Badosa on the road to the final, but was unable to break Swiatek’s dominance and suffered another straight-sets defeat.
Following her appearance in Stuttgart, Sabalenka is anticipated to participate in the Mutua Madrid Open (April 23 – May 5), where she currently holds the title of defending champion.
