Microsoft expands Priva product portfolio to offer robust privacy and compliance solutions

As data privacy continues to gain awareness among the public, it is crucial for companies to ensure that their users are fully informed about the collection and use of their data. In addition, with different countries having their own laws and regulations, it can be a daunting task for companies to comply with all of them. To address this issue, Microsoft has developed the Priva product portfolio, which offers solutions to help organizations manage privacy challenges arising from complex regulatory requirements and changing regulations. The company has recently announced the expansion of its Priva portfolio to include a new set of products, further strengthening its efforts to assist companies in modernizing their privacy programs.

In 2021, Microsoft introduced Privacy Management for Microsoft 365, which was designed to automate risk mitigation, manage subject rights requests, and improve privacy operations for handling personal data. The latest offerings from Microsoft Priva go beyond these features and include Privacy Risk Management, Subject Rights Requests for data within Microsoft 365, Consent Management, Privacy Assessments, and Tracker Scanning for a company’s entire data estate.

In the Priva family of products, there are several key solutions that are summarized below:

Microsoft Privacy Assessments are conducted by Microsoft.

  • Streamlines the process of identifying, recording, and assessing the utilization of personal information.
  • Incorporates personalized privacy risk frameworks into evaluations in order to pinpoint elements that contribute to privacy risk.
  • The individual monitors their personal data usage, assessing potential privacy risks in order to decrease organizational risk and establish trust with data subjects.

  • The process identifies both personal data and significant privacy risks, automates mitigation of risks, and enables employees to make well-informed decisions about handling data.

The Microsoft Priva Tracker Scanning is being conducted.

  • The discovery and categorization of tracking technologies on websites is automated.
  • Assists organizations in addressing non-compliance issues with trackers and effectively monitoring website compliance.
  • Allows organizations to achieve standardized tracking compliance at scale and improve their privacy posture by providing maximum control and visibility.

4. Microsoft Privacy Consent Management:

  • To comply with data privacy regulations, consent management and the use of consented data are streamlined.
  • Develops configurable and compliant consent models that can be easily implemented.
  • The deployment of consent models at scale is simplified and organization-specific layouts for these models are provided.

5. Requests for Microsoft Privacy Subject Rights:

  • Enables the automated fulfillment of subject rights requests in multiple data environments.
  • Oversees the handling of subject rights requests, including access, deletion, and export, in on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
  • Facilitates organizations in effectively managing subject rights requests and fostering trust with customers by streamlining tasks.

These solutions assist organizations in implementing and supervising privacy protocols throughout their complete data assets, guaranteeing compliance and reducing potential privacy risks.

The tool works hand in hand with Microsoft Purview Compliance Manager to provide data protection and privacy assessment templates that align with compliance regulations and industry standards. In addition, Microsoft has introduced the new Priva Portal, currently in preview, where IT administrators can explore and utilize the latest solutions. These features are also accessible through the classic Microsoft Purview compliance portal.

Microsoft Purview is an additional feature that can be added to the Microsoft 365 subscription for eligible customers. Customers can also take advantage of a complimentary 90-day trial to experience the benefits of Microsoft’s Priva Subject Rights Requests. During this trial period, customers can create up to 50 subject rights requests, after which each individual request will cost $199.80 if not already included in their Microsoft 365 subscription.
