Miami Heat Injury Report: Latest on Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo’s status against Washington Wizards (March 31)

The Washington Wizards will host the Miami Heat at the Capital One Arena in Washington on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET. This will mark the fourth and last game of the series between the two teams, with the Heat currently holding a 2-1 lead. The game is part of the NBA’s 10-game schedule.

The injury report for the Miami Heat includes five players, including Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler, both of whom have been cleared to play. Despite a 113-92 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, the Heat (40-33) rebounded with a record-breaking 142-82 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers. This 60-point margin is the largest in the franchise’s history.

The Heat had an outstanding shooting performance, making 58.7% of their shots. Their 3-point shooting was particularly impressive, with a 53.8% success rate as they made 21 out of 39 attempts. The team also recorded a remarkable 41 assists, surpassing their franchise record of 39 set on Apr. 6, 1997.

The Injuries of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo

Tuesday’s game marked the 22nd instance this season, out of 73 total games, in which Miami played without Butler. He was unable to participate in the morning shootaround due to a non-COVID-19 illness, causing his absence from the game.

Despite initial concerns, Butler was ultimately ruled out approximately two hours prior to the game. In contrast, Adebayo has been present for four out of the last five games, with the exception of the 107-104 victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers. His absence in that game was attributed to lower back soreness, which according to reports, caused him discomfort and inflammation.

Despite initially being listed as questionable against the Pelicans, he was ultimately upgraded to play. He was able to contribute a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, playing for 30 minutes. Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain as his team ended up losing.
