MediaTek Launches Dimensity 9400+: Features TSMC’s 3nm Process, 12MB L3 Cache, 3.73GHz Clock Speed & 12-Core GPU

MediaTek has officially launched its first 3nm chipset, the Dimensity 9400+, continuing its strategy of enhanced flagship silicon development. Utilizing TSMC’s advanced 3nm ‘N3E’ fabrication process, this latest chipset excels in power efficiency, eliminating the need for lower power cores in its architecture. Below are further insights regarding this significant announcement.

Overview of the Dimensity 9400+: Incremental Enhancements with Notable AI Improvements

Scheduled for release in smartphones during the second quarter of the year, the Dimensity 9400+ is designed to offer a performance upgrade over its predecessor, the Dimensity 9400. This chipset maintains a configuration focused solely on performance cores, featuring one ARM Cortex-X925 core clocked at 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores operating at 3.30GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.40GHz. The return of the ARM Immortalis GPU, comprising 12 cores and supporting ray tracing, marks another advancement in graphical performance.

MediaTek’s updated chipset boasts an impressive architecture that includes a total of 12MB of L3 cache, a system cache of 10MB, and a separate 10MB of SLC cache. Additionally, it supports cutting-edge technologies such as LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and Wi-Fi 7 tri-band with a bandwidth that can reach up to 7.3Gbps. Bluetooth 6.0 capabilities are included, allowing for data transfer speeds of up to 12Mbps. The options for display are equally advanced, supporting a WQHD+ panel with a remarkable 180Hz refresh rate. Among its many features, the Dimensity 9400+ also integrates MediaTek’s Ultrasave 4.0 technology, enhancing battery life significantly, along with native support for DeepSeek’s R1 model.

Dimensity 9400 Plus Launch

The Dimensity 9400+ can support an impressive single camera setup of up to 320MP and is capable of 8K video recording at 60FPS. The chipset’s AI capabilities are powered by MediaTek’s advanced 890 NPU, which facilitates on-device generative and Agentic AI, yielding up to a 20% performance boost in AI tasks. While the differences between the Dimensity 9400 and its successor are marginal, benchmarks will soon be available to illustrate the advancements. Furthermore, the tech community is eagerly anticipating the Dimensity 9500, expected to launch in the fourth quarter of the year, which may bring more substantial upgrades.
