“Like falling in love with the neighborhood h*e” – UFC Atlantic City winner gets poetic about “hard-knock” fighting life with Ariel Helwani

After achieving victory at UFC Atlantic City, a featherweight fighter sat down with Ariel Helwani to discuss the intense nature and ongoing hardships of combat sports.

Nate Landwehr faced a tough challenge at the recent Fight Night event held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City against Jamall Emmers. Despite encountering difficulties early on, ‘The Train’ showed incredible resilience and staged an impressive comeback, ultimately securing a first-round knockout victory.

During his appearance on The MMA Hour, Landwehr was asked about the difficulties he encountered during his fight with Emmers. He reflected on whether he would want his opponents to also face similar challenges.

The 35-year-old individual from Tennessee responded:

“Man, it’s a hard-knock life, man. And this fight sh*t is like falling in love with the neighborhood h*e; she ain’t never gonna love you.”

Despite a rocky start, Landwehr ultimately triumphed in the last preliminary bout at UFC Atlantic City. After an initial scare, he landed a knockout punch on ‘Pretty Boy’ just 4:43 into the first round. Although Emmers came out strong with a flurry of quick attacks, relentlessly targeting ‘The Train’, Landwehr was able to weather the storm and hold his ground.

After regaining his composure, Landwehr wasted no time unleashing his offensive arsenal, using precise combinations to gradually wear down ‘Pretty Boy’. A perfectly timed right uppercut from Landwehr sent Emmers crashing to the canvas, followed by a series of hammer fists that ultimately rendered Emmers unconscious and solidified Landwehr’s victory.

Nate Landwehr challenges Bryce Mitchell to a fight following his win at UFC Atlantic City

Nate Landwehr, in his post-event interview for UFC Atlantic City, conveyed his desire to make a swift return to the octagon once his head injury has healed.

“Man, [I’ll fight] whoever. We got to figure out how long it’s going to take this cut to heal and see what UFC wants me to do. I’m a fighter — fighters fight — and I’m ready to go.”

‘The Train’ also expressed his willingness to face Bryce Mitchell next, as long as it aligns with the plans of UFC CEO Dana White.

“Whatever [UFC] wants. If they want that fight, that’s a good fight. I mean, he’s got a great following. He’s got his own swag, and I got mine, and I think that’d be a good one.”
